There are those that won't vote for trump, and those that can't imagine not voting for trump. This has always been about the unknown sliver of what's left over. I can't imagine it's a good idea to try an introduce a new candidate now, much less organize the money and come up with a cover story. And they have about until last week to get it done. In the modern era republicans don't win elections, the democrats lose them.
Why accept these limitations?
Why not demand more ( which should have been done months ago⦠rejecting Budenâs hubris)?

There is no doubt that this is a bad look for Dems, but the other reality is once you get through the convention, Kamala Harris becomes your nominee if anything happens with joe. That's not a good answer either.
I can't believe I'm going to type this, but if the focus is on the undecided middle, then I think Michelle Obama is the nominee the Dems need. I also think Newsome likely would also beat Trump, but he carries a lot of baggage out of CA that the Right is going to play on a loop (ie tent cities). Having Barrack as the "first man" has a LOT of value.
I don't think Trump would debate her, and she would give people an option not named Biden or Trump, which has polled incredibly well.
Barrack is likely the guy who can save Democracy... because he can talk both Joe and Michelle into doing what's necessary.
Like I said... I can't believe I'm typing this as no fan of the Obamas... but this is "any port in a storm" time.
This might turn out to be the best thing. Joe steps aside and the deep, high quality Democratic bench (Whitmer, Klobuchar, Buttigieg, for instance) with younger people step up. Fingers crossed. This might have been a fantastic opportunity. Imagine the failed real estate salesman âengaging in a debateâwith Pete.

Again, I have yet to see the first part, but based on what I did see so far, Biden did better than I thought he could from seeing all of the videos of his bumbling the past year or so.
That said, thinking about Putin and Xi watching, especially Xi, if Taiwan was ever at risk, it certainly is now. There will never be a better time for XI to act. Biden would roll over and let Taiwan go the same as Obama let Putin take Crimea. Putin has got to be thinking that Ukraine will never be easier to finish off while Joe is still in charge. He can go all in and overwhelm Ukraine regardless to any losses he might take along that way and either win or destroy Ukraine beyond repair which would also be a win for Putin.
This is the weakest I have ever seen the US in my short lifetime.
.
umm.. Putin already has gone all in. He's got sweet FA hardware left (which is why he went begging to North Korea) and has been trying to "overwhelm Ukraine regardless of any losses" for over three years now. Ukraine doesn't either, for that matter, but slowly the supplies are coming in. Now is NOT the time to force a settlement on Ukraine that it doesn't want.

I love your written fever dream fantasies...
Manafort and Kilimnik worked on a deal that would have had Trump let Russia take over the Donbas region of Ukraine. Trump's buddy Viktor Orban has stated more than once that Trump will provide no aid to Ukraine if he wins the White House. Biden has repeatedly committed the US to Taiwan in fact and word.
According to the Senate report, Manafort met Kilimnik twice in person while working on the Trump campaign, messaged with him electronically and shared âsensitive campaign polling dataâ with him.
Senate investigators wrote in their report that they suspected Kilimnik served as âa channel for coordinationâ on the Russian military intelligence operation to hack into Democratic emails and leak them.
The Senate intel report notes that in about a dozen interviews with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Manafort âlied consistentlyâ about âone issue in particular: his interactions with Kilimnik.â
Manafortâs attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Manafort didnât make it to Election Day on the Trump campaign. In August 2016, The New York Times revealed that handwritten ledgers recovered from Yanukovychâs estate showed nearly $13 million in previously undisclosed payments to Manafort from Yanukovych and his pro-Russian party. Manafort was pushed out of his job as Trumpâs campaign chairman less than a week later.
After Trump won the election, the Senate report says, Manafort and Kilimnik worked together on a proposed âplanâ for Ukraine that would create an Autonomous Republic of Donbas in separatist-run southeast Ukraine, on the Russian border. Manafort went so far as to work with a pollster on a survey on public attitudes to Yanukovych, the deposed president. The plan only would need a âwinkâ from the new U.S. president, Kilimnik wrote to Manafort in an email.
Manafort continued to work on the âplanâ even after he had been indicted on charges of bank fraud and conspiracy, according to the Senate report. Itâs not clear what became of the effort, if anything.

So sorry about the copy and paste FACT BOMB, Kurt. But you can't live in a world of lies all the time.

"A group of House Democratic lawmakers said they were watching the debate together and acknowledged it was a âdisaster.â They were discussing the need for a new presidential nominee."
Put up Gavin Newsom. He crushed Ron De Santis in their "debate" during the GOP primaries.
If you consider he NEVER answered any questions directed to him.
There's already too many condescending politicians out there.
That guy reeks of it.

Bidenâs age is not just a potential liability among Republicans and independents â majorities of whom say he is too old and are very concerned about it â but also among a sizable minority of Democrats. Forty-four percent of Democrats say Biden is too old, and 31% are very worried about it.
IIRC a poll in February had something like 85% of voters worried/concerned. DNC strategists seem to be on mushrooms.
