Just got a cab back from the Ponta Delgagda Public horse pistol. Went in last Weda nd they prepared me for surgery which happened first thing Thusday morning. They ended up bringing a specialist from the mainland as this hopspital doesn't have a Urologist surgeon that foes these oftem. They gave me a choice of a local or general so took the general as it was a 2 hour operation. After the heneral wore off I had very bad pain in my left leg similar to the siacaica I had years ago. It still hurts like hell today. The plus side is that this guy did it laproscopically so less recovery time. He said they blow air in while duing the proceeduure and that may have caused thee leg problem. He said he was able to preserve all the nerve and muscle on both sides so I should be able to pee normally again anywhere from a month to a year. Things actualy went pretty well over all and the nurses and doctors were all very nice. Had to share a recovery toom with 2 other patients but it wasn't as bad as I thought and besides the whole thing was free as I am a resident here now On the 15th the cathheter and prr bag come off and then its diaper tyoe. O Boy! Feels good to be home thome though!
Good news ! Wishing a speedy and uneventful recovery.

Well, I have apparently had a mini stroke in my left eye. I'm seeing my regular eye doc on Monday, after seeing a different doc this afternoon. We'll see what he recommends.
Sounds like the same thing I habe except I have it in both eyes and can no longer drive. In my eye over the same night 100's of small vessels blew out allowing bloodl blood plasma minus the red corpusles to mix with normal eye fluid. If you have a small amount of leaks they can be laser coterized. I've seem several specialist including here in Portugal and unfornately if you have many leaks there is no fix. The fluid eventually damages your optic bundle. I hope that is not what happened to you and that is is somethng more curable.

IIRC he has some issues with a leaky retina and used to see some specialists in Va. He did some driving to get to whoever it was when he lived in Danville. Don't how close to there you are. His plate is full but if he can help you with this I'm pretty sure he would.
Sorry to hear this. The eye is full of little capillaries and some bigger ones as well as a vein and artery, too.
Not all ophthalmologists are created equally. There are also many specialties within the profession. You need a retinal specialist and the good ones are hard to get into see. You almost need a reference to speed up that process or it will certainly help. They are one of the top tiers of specialties in the field of ophthalmology.
Yours is the first mini stroke in the eye I have heard of first hand, which means nothing in itself, but rare indeed or are they often misdiagnosed and technology is catching up or I just haven't run into any people who have had this issue ?
Get a second opinion and definitely seek out a cardiologist to find out what the root cause may be. The ophthalmologist will end up being the one treating the eye, but a cardiologist needs to be involved in the foodchain.
Beware of anyone telling you that they can handle this all by themselves. Something like this involves a team effort.
Not knowing anything about facilities near you, I would look to a teaching hospital that has ophthalmologist residents and training.
Do not be afraid to go to the state licensing boards to see if there are any known issues with a potential doctor.

It's possible that Injections into the eye may be recommended, which sounds horrific, but it's not that bad, as far as medical procedures go. I have been getting injections in my eye for the last 6 years for AMD. The injection site is numbed (of course) so you don't really feel that, but there is some discomfort for several hours, I think mostly due to the anti-biotic. Best wishes for whatever treatment options you end up taking.
This kidney thing really kicked my ass. I wasn't having pain associated with the rather large stone in my right kidney, so I ended up with a rather nasty infection, nearly septic by the time I landed in the ER last week. Four days in the hospital, stent in place, stone removal surgery scheduled in about 10 days. I'm feeling much better but very low energy. The infection isn't gone but getting there with antibiotics. This is the second of these in 3 1/2 years, so my urologist is going to ground to find out what the dang deal is all about. I'm guessing they may want to do some work on my rather enlarged prostate along the way. Sucks getting old. Otherwise healthy, so there's that.

Thank you. A very dear friend recently died from metastasized ocular melanoma, and I know he had many, many injections. I will certainly do what my doctor recommends. I'd never even heard of a stroke in the eye!!

Finally got a date to get my prostate yanked out. Surgery date is Nov 7. Then I get to look forward to a catheater for 10 days and weeks or months wearing leak pads during recovery. They don't do robotics or laproscipic here. Can't wait!
