Waaju Bio I found from Tidal:

Britain's Waaju blend jazz and Afro-Latin traditions into their own unique sound. Following their 2018 eponymous debut, they gained wider attention with 2020's Grown and their 2024 concert album with Moroccan guitarist Majid Bekkas, Alouane.

Hailing from London, Waaju formed around 2018 and features tenor saxophonist Sam Rapley, guitarist Tal Janes, bassist Joe Downard, drummer Ben Brown, and percussionist/conguero Ernesto Marichales. Together, they blend jazz and Afro-Latin sounds (specifically, traditions from Mali, Nigeria, Morocco, and Cuba) with psychedelic rock, funk, and fusion influences. They debuted in 2018 with the eponymously titled Waaju and returned in 2020 with Grown. A live album, Alouane, appeared in 2024 and found the group performing with Moroccan guitarist, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Majid Bekkas. ~ Matt Collar

First time I’ve heard this, I really like it!
Its got some of Weather Report funk, with Joe Zawinul, Jaco Pastorius, and of course...Wayne Shorter on tenor, alto, and soprano.

Check out some of their live shows on PBS.   A sight to behold.

Very Steely Dan in parts which is plus for sure.

I  Agree.  This is the first time that I have heard it.  That is why we come here. I gave it a TEN.  Thanx RP!

This is really growing on me, tempted to bump it to an "8".
This is great, it's like Battles decided to do an acoustic gig.

I definitely agree! Like the way the Global mix is veering more towards jazz. Has anyone else noticed?
