You might know of the original sin
And you might know how to play with fire
But did you know of the murder committed
In the name of love - yeah
You thought what a pity
Dream on white boy
Dream on black girl
And wake up to a brand new day
To find your dreams have washed away
There was a time when I did not care
And there was a time when the facts did stare
There is a dream and it's held by many
Well I'm sure you had to see
It's open arms
Dream on white boy
Dream on black girl
And wake up to a brand new day
To find your dreams have washed away
You might know of the original sin
And you might know how to play with fire
But did you know of the murder committed
In the name of love - yeah
You thought what a pity
Dream on white boy
Dream on black girl
Then wake up to a brand new day
Dream on black boy
Dream on white girl
And waked up to a brand new day
To find your dreams have washed away
Dream on black boy
Dream on white girl
And wake up to a brand new day
To find your dreams are washed away
Dream on, play with fire
White boy, black girl
Dream on, in the name of love
Black boy, white girl
Dream on, white boy, black girl
Black boy, white girl

How long did it take until we all became POCs?
Brilliant in stereo
My old man introduced me to the Swing when I was in my early teens which I thought was pretty cool for someone of his generation. One of those early eighties albums that had a huge influence on me growing up in Oz

Banned in Australia before it hit our shores for its interracial content. How times have changed. Wait now....

Dammit, now I cannot unsee the Villain from Despicable me 3 doing his shoulder dance moves

i kind of hear that...but i'm thinking of a different prince song. Kiss or something...i'm sure i'm wrong.
the last 2 comments i commented back to on here are some of the reasons i love the comment sections in the songs on RP - i learn so much!
Am I crazy or does that little guitar bit remind me of one of Prince's songs for the Batman movie?

Fun fact: Daryl Hall sings backup on the chorus (if you listen hard enough, you can hear him).
WOWOWOW!!! i can kinda hear him!

I never give negative reviews, because somebody on RP probably likes it!! If I don't like it, I rate it less than 7, so it doesn't wind up on "MY Favorites" list! Everything on RP deserves at least a 5 or 6! PS: GREAT SONG! I gave it an 8! Thanx RP!
This song sucks so much.

It reached the top 10 in Australia in 1984
Growing up in Australia and seeing the band at the time. I am pretty sure that’s not correct. I saw them play this in the 80s.

wtf? was that the same regulatory authority that banned Walk on the Wild Side 20 years after it was released because it took them that long to understand the content?

"The golden age" of pub gigs in Australia, or so I'm told. Apparently you used to be able to crack 3k for playing 3 sets down at your local. Alas, we'd be lucky to break even now...
This was a nice change of pace. Yay 80s music!

Great song and even better album...The Swing !

At the time of release, I did not care for this song. ...But now, hearing it with "high quality", Flac, great headphones, DAC & headphone amp, I really like it!

The first album I ever purchased!

David Bowie's ''Let's Dance' shares the same intro, to my mind.

I kind of like it, as I first heard it from the Greatest Video Hits back in 1990 and many times since then, but it's not that great of a song. It's more endearing than of great quality.
This song has the same release year as U2's Pride (In the Name of Love). Both titles reference sin (Pride being one of the 7 deadly ones). Both songs have the lyric "In the name of love". Both songs reference Martin Luther King, Jr. Was this a coincidence? Did Bono and Hutchence have a little songwriting competition with certain criteria? I wonder...
I used to pump iron to this tune, so, am fond for that reason. Otherwise, I might think less of it. Bill, i found lyrics ...

ACK!
Sounds very similar to Duran Duran. Had to look in the playlist to see it was INXS. Once you know you can hear the signature sound of Michael Hutchence vocals.
Like Bills says at times, "always interesting comments from listeners" Got to see INXS twice back in the day. Great energy, talented lads, tight musicians, and a tragic star. Early MTV days also helped. Ave. 7 sorry haters your overruled
Not quite my preferred style of music but I thought I would point out that INXS is one Steven Wilson's favourite bands.
That is a recommendation from the very top.

Classic of its time, I guess. Once is enough, thanks.
ACK!
great song...gracias! "burn for you" on this album was always great live. Sorry, RP snobs, but this is still much better than the crap you hear today...the chumps on the Billboard top 50 WISH they could be this original.
Oh my GOSH! Ah .. the joy of my 80s. Enough said!
Yech - 80s pop.
And the synth goes boing boing boing boing boing.

Not their best song...
But the volume is at 10 overhere.... Why is that?
But the volume is at 10 overhere.... Why is that?
I like! ...possibly because I miss the 80s so much...
Yikes, RP. Now you're surprising me, but not in a good way. If you wanna play INXS (and I'm not saying you shouldn't), why not pick a good song? This thing is so hopelessly sophomoric, and it reeks of early-'80s excess.
awful song, I'm australian, and I cringe that this is seen as representative of australian music! dreadful plodding stuff, sorry
Really?
David Bowie's ''Let's Dance' shares the same intro, to my mind.
Egads! I laughed the first time I heard this on Virgin Radio in Italy about two months ago. The lyrcis are sophomoric and are indicative of the tripe that defined the 80's. And now, I hear it on my beloved Radio Paradise - my worlds are colliding at a most unfortunate zenith... hopefully a once in a lifetime cataclysmic event.
cringe!
A great example of the fantastic stuff that came out of the early 80's.
Not bad! Is this typical of INXS? I didn't hear them in the day.
Sweet! Thanks Bill :)
An 80's classic! So glad to hear this on Radio Paradise
