Calm down
And get straight
It's in our eyes
It's how we operate

You're true
You are
I'd apologize but it won't go very far

Please come here
Come right on over
And when we collide we'll see what gets left over

A little joy
A little sorrow
And a little pride so we won't have to borrow
Wherever you lead, I'll follow

Turn me inside out and upside down
And try to see things my way
Turn a new page, tear the old one out
And I'll try to see things your way

Please come here
Please come on over

There is no line that you can't step right over
Without you well I'm left hollow
So can we decide to try a little joy tomorrow
'Cos baby tonight I'll follow

Turn me inside out and upside down
And try to see things my way
Turn a new page, tear the old one out
And I'll try to see things your way

The way that we've been speaking now
I swear that we'd be friends, I swear
'Cos all these little deals go down with
Little consequences, we share, we share

Turn me inside out and upside down
And try to see things my way
Turn a new page, tear the old one out
And I'll try to see things your way

And I'm gonna love you anyway
Try to see things your way
Try to see things your way
Try to see things your way

Agreed! An "RP All-Star Track" in my book that has been in rotation for nearly 20 years at this point!
I like all their music but this one is the best. Something about a rock & roll banjo! LOL
GOOD TUNE!  Thanx RP!
Ian Ball and Ben Ottewell are touring as a duo this summer. I got my tickets for the Vienna, Va. show. https://www.gomeztheband.com/e...
i never get tired of this one!

DrWhy, I did. It was exceptional!
This band was on such a roll, and then they just stopped.  Wish they could come back together and deliver another solid album.
INCREDIBLE -  This is one of my ALL TIME love songs!
This is good.
NEW ALBUM PLEASE!!!!

I hope they haven't called it quits.
Only 3 bars into the intro and I gave it a 7...

You aren't listening very much if this is the only Gomez song you hear:

What if this was the theme song of all political parties?

Seen them 3 times, they are great,  hopefully they come back soon.  Three different singers whose voices totally complement the songs they sing.  They really rock live.
Suspenseful intro (I'm interested).... followed by ... banjo (I'm confused)... Enter husky rocky voice (feeling encouraged)( ... then it starts to flow (still not sure where about the banjo).. nice sound wave to end it off (no closure on the banjo for me)
Have seen Gomez twice now at The Vic Theatre in Chicago. Both times they absolutely tore the roof off the joint when they played this. Just incredible.
A voice different than, but as distictive as Robert Plant's. Growl.

At one point I heard the prediction that they were or would be the new "Grateful Dead".  i did not see the comparison at all, but they are definitely a great band.

This was a good album, and this (the title track) was among the best songs.
Je t’aime, mon Cherie! Gomez, that’s French!

Still out there. Saw this band at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass last October. Very enjoyable, although the crowd was too self-absorbed to listen much. This is a weakness of outdoors festivals, but the band was great (when I could hear above the chatter).
Fantastic band that never achieved the recognition they deserve.

Whoa!  I know what you did there, Bill...I smell what you're steppin' in.
Love this song, great music, very good lyrics.  Shame Gomez seems to have disappeared, it has been 7 years since their last album.   In Our Gun is one of my all time favorite albums.
Excellent ! it's the city of Agel n°2 ?? Where are you Alanis {#Biggrin}

Awesome!
It's a rare occasion when someone makes a math reference that most people might understand.
I'm also impressed with the high number of quality "BillG Rocks!" comments on this song. Bravo to BILLG again, always!
dunno why I love this one. it's just got a beat to it.
Bill has the taste and broad scope of time on his  side to choose exquisite music and transitions of all periods and types of music.
This song is one of my all time favorites!!!!! Gooooo mez... {#Crown}

Neither had I... why?
Does Bill have some sort of a gift to be able to do this... to have this kind of intelligence (inter legere... being able to make relations between things)?
Anyway, that's why I have been listening to RP for about 15 years now.
TYVM Bill!   {#Notworthy}

I bought this for my iPod as soon as I heard it and never get sick of it.
Come to think of it, most of the stuff on my iPod I discovered on RP.

That is definitely a great voice and delivery to start, and when the bass and drums kick in, this baby takes off and flies the skies ablaze!
What a segue (sp. "seg way")!!!

Great band, little known

Glad to hear it on RP

The voice is very irritating and the plucking strings blow.

Wicked segue fr Alanis uninvited to gomez  how we operate. Love your transitions.
IMHO Ben ranks high for rock voices. See them live if you have the chance.

Absolutely.  Great band, rarely heard over here.  This track is just up to a solid 9 from this part of the world.  Thanks RP.
Really nice segue from Alanis Morissette...
Couple years back my granddaughter and her cousins wanted to do the "Disneyland Experience" in Anaheim.  I'd just as soon stick an ice pick in my eye, but since the kids really wanted to go, I tagged along.  It was as weird as I feared, but then I saw there was a House of Blues in Disneytown.  There on the marquee: Gomez, Thursday Night!  Let's just say that seeing them was the high point of the visit for me. They were fabulous live.   My granddaughter loved Disneyland.  A good week.

I'm with you. I'm generally willing to give any song that's well received by the RP audience the benefit of the doubt, but this just sounds a little too much like the complaint rock I didn't care for in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Not bad - sounds a little like Pearl Jam, for some reason that amounts to a sin in certain circles (less so today).

I love this song!

So true...such a sad commentary on how some of us deal with relationships in general.

"Without you I'm left hollow"...just a small example of the wisdom of the lyrics in this beautifully written song.

I'll try to see things your way though..

so good!

Like a hybrib between hoobastank and everlast.
I daresay that is too narrow an interpretation by Stevo: the bango can sound alternately jaunty and fun—-then ominous and haunting. Listen to Zep's Gallows Pole. The mandolin also falls into this category of being alternately upbeat/sorrowful.

That is fair.  This is another one of those enigma bands where they can make a great song like this and then the next song on the album you will be like this is turrible!{#Eek}
it is GOOD
This song is an example of a tune that I LOVED SO MUCH at first and it slowly grew somewhat stale for me. Seems as though the songs that have more longevity to me are the ones that I slowly like more and more as I hear them...This one was great right away...and it has since succumbed to the fate I just mentioned.
it IS good.
it is good
A great pop tune for sure, but Archie hit the nail. Alanis must be a little curious about this one. It than becomes a STP inspired piece, all hail the Vedderites...
Another great band that rp turned me on to.
Good song, not my favourite, but good, nice vocals.

But I would agree that musically the verse is...uhm, inspired? by Uninvited by Alanis Morisette.  I just find it a little too close for comfort...
After some ups and downs on my life I should say that I'm getting to it again, but I think I'm not yet - this song is really a good one. Congratulations for radioparadise for sharing this with us, and most of all - thank you very much! You're the best!
