Genius group! Alex K does wild gymnastics with his voice, timing such sly and humorous lyrics perfectly with the wonderfully spastic guitars and drums! I'll see them 4/1/25 at The Boulder Theater; can't wait!
MOR fromage. Skin deep. Send a new cut in.

Interesting. Quite a lot of "Hava Na Gila" going on there.

Yep. Can hardly wait for them to do the Hokey-Pokey... The opening riff sounds like R.L. Burnside...

The Britney Spears of Scotland? I am now noticing that there are number of similar crap bands that are out now that are all media darlings. Modest Mouse, and there is one more that I am trying to forget.
This is EXTRA CHEEZY. And not in any sort of good way. Somebody make it stop, please.
To enlighten those who may not know, Terry Wogan (mentioned in the quiet middle-8 section) is an old and slightly cheesy radio DJ and sometime light entertainment presenter. To hear him namechecked in a song like this is very funny to us Brits!
fun.
Goes right through me like Olestra on a warm Summer day. 4
To paraphrase an old Mike Meyers SNL skit: it's Scottish AND it's crap!

No kidding - i just rated it 1 (something I very rarely do)
This is REALLY irritating.

What shall we do with the drunken sailor?

I think I like this. Although my guitarrist had a dream that our bass player "Fluffy" beat the crap out of the singer from F. Ferdinand for some odd reason. (Fluffy's a 270lb. biker looking guy).
Please tell Fluffy to go right ahead. :verymad:
This song is irritating, gives me a headache - too insistently pulsating in a discordant way. Pfft.
Is this supposed to be clever?
Um. Nope.
Repugnant, yet somehow delicious.
Der Kommisar of the 00's
This is crap. That other song that they play on "alternative radio" constantly is crap too. Please go back to Scotland! :P

Nice segue tonight from Big Country to Franz Ferdinand. The best Scottish artist of the early 80's followed by the Scottish buzz band of the moment. And just before Big Country was Bela Fleck, an aritst who once covered In A Big Country. Somone put some thought into this!

until i read that, i'd always thought that Big Country were from Australia. and now i've learned my fun fact for the day!
ugh!
If he continues singing... you'll definitely find me at the Matinee...... far far away where I can't hear him...

It happens all the time. We don't event speak the same language. Well not in Glasgow anyway.

Actually theyre Scottish. small subtle difference. Lots of Englis influences though, particularly 70s glam eg T REx.
And to know I recently corrected somebody who was talking about England while meaning Britain this band is great. saw them a few weeks back and can't seem to get enough.

I've liked everything I've heard from these guys. The album is great. Great lyrics as well as distinctive rythms.
I think that pretty much every song by this band is a 6 or 7. Nothing special but the CD is only $10 so I got it.
Likeable, but disposable.
that's a solid 8, for damn sure. it makes me smile a lot.
ick
i'm sure it only gets worse after repeated listening.
I bought this CD after hearing this song on the radio (KUT- Austin). I wish I had not purchased the CD.
I like this song..
more of them? :?: :?:
If Cake The Cure's mutant children started a band...
3rd class bar band. Glad there's a mute btn.

Yes, that's also in it, but overall it reminded me very much of the (sixties) Kinks.
In a nice way, cause it's evident this band has got enough to stand on their own and sound fresh and contemporary, just the same.
Because of the understatement and sort of irony, it could only be English.
Nice to know music in this tradition is continued.

A very clever tune from a very clever band.
Catchy, very catchy.
I like this more and more every time I hear it
I had a feeling this one was coming this morning. I like it!
This song is awesome! What a great band, please play more Ferdinand: ' Jacqueline' is a great song and 'Michael' is good too.

Yesss! I was about to type the same thing!
Hava nagila, hava nagila
Hava nagila venis'mecha

At first (casual) listen, I thought it was Golden Earring's "Twilight Zone"...then I thought it was Cake...this is the second of his tunes I've heard on here, and I guess I like him.
My second favorite on the album.
I really like their sound, although I admit I really have to be in the mood for the music rather than have their music put me in the mood.
Interesting. Quite a lot of "Hava Na Gila" going on there.
