Love this movie.
Life means Zendo, and becoming at peace with oneself. (Allan Watts, Hermann Hesse)
Just wonderful.
Great music for a great film.

A quick search reveals he had terminal cancer and was in excruciating pain. So yeah, it's still melancholy, but maybe a tad less so.
Such a wonderful movie, regardless.

Double melancholy as I listen to this song and replay the movie's plot while remembering that the great character actor, Richard Farnsworth, died by suicide.

The little riff on human beans below is a sentimental reminder (as if this music wasn’t already), of when I was trying to come up with a nickname for our daughter. Scout was already taken, the readers among us will know how, I was searching for something humble but with goodness and a link to something that had a wee connection to mythology. This: Bean. ❤️❤️❤️
This hit hard, heart-achingly beautiful
A beautiful touching film with a perfect soundtrack. Gorgeous

As english is not my mother tongue - no, apparently not.
But your tone - if one can say that about something written - appears a bit aggressive. Calm down, please.

Bumped from 6 to an 8. I must’ve been in a bad mood when I heard this the first time.

Weeks of algorithm "curated" playlists on Spotify might turn up a couple of interesting sounds. Fifteen minutes of listening to Radio Paradise with playlists curated by human beans and I've already found three songs that are absolute belters. And this is one of them.🐨

Maybe that gets at the true meaning of eclectic... a wide ranging taste in music of a particular essence. The algorithms of amazon, spotify and pandora have never worked for me at all. I don't like all the music Bill does, but his taste is very aligned with mine at some kind of mystical root.

This... this is nice. Very nice.
Reminds me of another great movie, Eastern Promises, when Armin Mueller-Stahl explains the right way to play a violin: making the wood cry.
This is gorgeous
sweet music for a fine, slo film
A five minute intro to nowhere.....
Perfect for the story~captured the essence of the emotions~

Funny, but not very accurate. It is literally David Lynch meets Disney, and if you're familiar with his work you can see it's him, but without all the evil. Sweet and slow, small in scope, and well crafted, the end made my girlfriend (now wife) sob a bit. And, as is typical with Lynch, great music by Angelo Badalamenti. I rather liked it, but it's not everybody's cup of tea.
The real Alvin Straight's path took him about an hour north of where I grew up. I remember seeing him on the news and everything.
The movie still gives me a homesick lump in my throat.

If you didn't already know, it's a true story. David Lynch goes Americana. Strange, but true. In that sense, at least, it's The Elephant Man.

After a minute or so, I realized it wasn't just a long intro to a song, but the song. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Yes, this. More please.
Verrrry nice. And touching movie too.
