Caught JT live a few years back- one of the most enjoyable live shows I've seen.

I totally agree. Taylor is a very accomplished sing/songwriter, who's work is impeccable.
When I don't feel the need to rattle the windows, Taylor's music is a great antidote for the stress
and strain of living in the fast lane.

POSTCARD:First you take a small wooden implement that has (I've heard) some type of graphite substance in it. This device must be sharpened in some way. Once you achieved a satisfactory point you pull this device across a small square of stiff paper( this stiff paper must have what we used to refer to as a "stamp", haven't seen one in years,don't know if they still exist.)This is called {shudder!} 'writing'. You impart a brief meaningless message. this is done usually to irritate a friend or co-worker who isn't "sitting on the beach sipping a frozen something or other" with you. This 'thing' must now be (and you can find the term on wikipedia) 'Mailed'?. At which point it is now lost forever.
LETTERS: hmmmmmmm, sorry ,can't help you. Actually am familiar with an ancient type which is a phoney outpouring of emotion and remorse (scribbled hastily on a sheet of wood pulp product once refered to as 'notebook paper'),which is left typically in your house when you're not there,by a member of the opposite sex who has taken your possessions and best friend and moved to another state. Sometimes refered to as 'Dear John'. Except for the possessions part, this can be a good thing.

"Music for me is formost music. If I want "intelligence", I read a book. That does not mean music without a message is not intelligent. It takes a mastermind to come up with a great melody or a great line of words like in almost any of James Taylors songs. When for example a political message is more important than the song itself the message will draw focus from the music, then whats the point in making it a song? (this is of course only my own opinion, I dont like political music, but love JT) " bulle450

Popularity should NEVER be the benchmark by which to judge quality or merit. American Idol, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry are all fine examples of why this is true.
