Sonny Landreth is really good when he plays with others. His own stuff is just too masturbatory (and repetitive.) He did a great turn on Govt. Mule's "The Deepest End."
Out! Out! Damn naysayers.

He may be a guitarist extraordinaire (I'm not enthralled), but a singer extraordinaire he certainly is not!

Sorry, just ruined my working buzz. Had to remove my earphones. YUK!
My coworker just said, "It's still not over?"

Oh My Goodness. I just threw down my earphones - that guitar at the end was remarkably bad. Like picking musical scabs.

Tasty stuff. I thought it was David Lindley at first. He can grind this all day as far as I'm concerned!
Hey, that's a nice melody line! Why not use it for the whole of the verse? And for the chorus, too? And why not for the guitar intro? And for the riff? Hmm ...

This reminds me of the song the kids play in "School of Rock."

Been to Bayou Teche meself a time or two
this song reminds me of being "back home" in Lafayette, LA with my husband's family. i love the way they all call me "cher" (pronounced "shah") and my baby "cher bebe". ^_^

there are countrymen of yours named eric and mark who think differently of sonny's playing. check youtube for sonny. note that i do not defend vocals, same for eric and mark.
This reminds me of the song the kids play in "School of Rock."
And the blues are still alive and kicking...
Go get 'em Sonny!

Ahhhhh... a double-dip of Sonny to start my morning. Congo Square (Sonny's composition) by the Neville Brothers and now Sonny himself.
If I only had some beignets and chicory to go with the music.
Thanks Bill!
the vocals and the music seem to be disconnected.
Love Sonny's playing, I am a bit less enthusiastic about his singing. He is awesome with John Hiatt, when he is a player and not the front man. Saw him live a few years back, and his hands are just amazing, plan to see him in Roch in April. Gotta love the Native Stepson...

'South of I-10'*. Southern Louisiana. He's kind of a modern interpretation of traditional Cajun music.

*Interstate 10, which goes east-west through the lower part of the state. South of I-10, there are swamps, gators, and far more dangerous characters.
From the very first note, this is Sonny Landreth. Sweet. It may be an acquired taste, like suckin' the haids, but once you're into it there's no substitute.

he's song never end, boring.
This guy is an incredibly well respected session musician. That said, this doesn't do him justice.

+1 - no kidding !
hahahahaha sounds like some dude just walked into a guitar store and decided to try out a guitar.
Ahhh................, there's the drums.
Hey! Angus wants his guitar back!
lay off the wanking
Come on now... Sonny Landreth wails! This is some awesome guitar playing.
I don't mind it.
Guitar wanking doesn't usually get me to stop and listen but that was cool.
6, not sure if I want to hear it very often.
Goes on a bit, doesn't it?

Aww it grows on you. Besides, there are some G7 Diminished there that it takes 6 fingers to play with a slide. Anyway I like it.

for those about to rock...
Everything this guy does, I LIKE.
Nice slide guitar! Good way to start the morning!
