I have crawled out your hallowed houses just to feel my headache pound
I feel like graffiti on a urinal in the abattoir, well it goes and it goes
I can't stop my legs, I can't feel my feet, I own nothing, and nothing owns me

We're all born screaming
We're all born screaming, 'eah

I have climbed into open arms, they turned into a straight jacket
Stolen hearts I didn't need, but man, I always paid for them
I was a pantomime of a modern girl, those were the days, and I was miserable
A karaoke version of Leonard's "Hallelujah," my whole damn life, I had never exhaled
Oh well

She is in HEAVY ROTATION here right now and it’s disappointing……need a much longer break
Au contraire. I think I have a new artist on my list of favorites. So creative.
Fascinating indeed, Captain... She's musically gifted, disarmingly quirky, and with a mind wired for perfect production of complicated expression. I saw her on Letterman a decade or so ago. It made sense to me that she was working with Mr. Byrne, King of Clever Quirks, but until I read her new bio on RP, I had no idea she had also been working with Sufjan Stevens 20 years ago -- making that two of the most talented and wildly imaginative minds in the business -- or that she'd go on to have such a spectacular re-emergence and ascendance with this absolutely stellar album. Good for her, and I can't wait for her to show us more! Go, Anne!
Love that cover pic -- DANCE ON FIRE AS IT INTENDS!
I’m still mad at her for messing up Sleater-Kinney. I’m trying to move on though
Love it

Nice tune and hope to hear it again soon -- but when I read "Rolling Stone named Clark the 26th-greatest guitarist of all time in 2023" I couldn't have been more shocked. Combing the ranks of jazz, classical, and even rock players, there are easily one thousand players whose mastery of the instrument would enchant St. Vincent. And I'm sure that she would agree.
Good song though.

I agree - it's all a bit condescending really, as if the fact that she's a woman who actually plays guitar is enough to elevate her status (whereas there are plenty of stellar female guitarists - for example, the wonderful Jess Lewis who really is good.
Good song though.
I knew there was something a little too familiar about the fade out in this song.
Kate Bush, Hello Earth at 1:22.
Thank you! I thought I was the only one who caught that!
