I am so happy to hear Parra for Cuva on RP. If you dig this song, check out The Fifth Hand, his remix of Tadlo, and his Juno album.
This is great, I love to hear this kind of music on RP!

Autotune: digitally processing a recording to correct the vocalist's pitch errors.
Vocodor: using a mic or voice track as the input for a digital filter controlled by an instrument (usually, but not always, a keyboard).
This is a vocodor. To me, the use cases are very different.
Vocoders of one kind or another have been in use since at least the 1970s, when Peter Frampton was a prominent champion of the instrument. He used an analog vocodor ("TalkBox") controlled by his guitar. For what it's worth, lots of people hated that too ;-)
Thank You for the info. Vocoders were initially developed for the military and intelligence agencies as an encryption device for radio transmissions in the late '50s early '60s.

If there is a place I would like to be immune from autotune, that should be at least RP…

My husband sympathizes. He hates auto-tune. For me, it depends on the song. If it is used to just cover up bad singing, it is a no. Has to add something.

I think for me it depends on how it's being used. For effect is OK. To try and repair a rubbish singer, not so OK.... I think it's for effect here.

Maybe an M95 mask that blocks 95% of Maleficent Music. Plus Billie Ellish.
Full disclosure - I like Billie Ellish.

I can tolerate it in this song. In fact, I find this quite likeable. The effect blends nicely with the music. This is not the usual fare of “hey look, I'm trendy because I use this effect, but I can't think of anything creative to do with it, so I just do the same as everyone else.”

respectfully, that's not quite true about autotune. It can also be used by artists , producers, engineers, etc. to help the artist create a distinctive sound. Many songs utilize autotune for that reason. I can't speak to this song and to whether it is vocodor or autotune.
