She sold her love to a modern man
Good solid currency's the hardest to land
All of that money helps you cover your ass
Don't let the ladyfinger blow in your hands
Did it all

For that dollar
She's a star tonight
Without warning
She gave up the ghost inside

Just Like a whiskey bottle drained on the floor
She got no future just a life to endure
This good samaritan is shakin' her hand
Too late to leave here now the songs in the can
Give it up

For that dollar
She's a star tonight
Without warning
She gave up the ghost inside

You call it chivalry
Never pull a punch for free
You ever wonder why they had to move on?
This phony honor code
That put you on your throne
A double standard you invoke when you want

For that dollar
She's a star tonight
Without warning
She gave up the ghost inside

Was it all for show?
Don't turn into one of them
Turning another page
Trust me darling
I'm carving a moat through the dust in your town
Crawling over the rubble
Just to serve you
Tend to wonder why

A "good" song but not "great" in my book. Quite likable works I suppose, but I'm going with 6.5 on first listen. ;) And I love this band, they were great live too.

I'm curious how you can rate a song 6.5. I thought the only options were integers.

It's easy. Give it a 7, log out, log in again with your other RP account (the one that you use to "like" your own comments), and then give it a 6.
This was the first song I heard by the Broken Bells when I first started listening to RP.  I liked it immediately and still do.  And I LOVE Radio Paradise for this and all the other musical groups that I would never have known if not for this station.

My wife and I have music playing most of the day, so easily the BEST  monthly donation I make has to be to RP.   Thanks, Bill, for the richness you add to our retirement years.
The falsetto vocals are pretty impressive imo. The mix is "loud" and poppy but has some nice little fills in there.

Forgot about this COOL song... Really amazing, how this group transcends! The bass makes me think of OK GO (which is AWESOME), and the voices and keyboards are so next level, so hip, so utterly excellent!
Love it.

Hey...this sounds alot similar to that song by  ol dirty bastard: "baby i got your money".

That song is a tribute to the Dolemite drive in movies from the 1970s.
Good good stuff.  Thanks for adding it B&R!!!!!
love this band.
new song...
