Remember when David dashed
A twelve pack
Of Budweiser heavy for the road
Two kids in the back
Drunk off their ass
Screaming in an old Bronco
And I recall what she said
That she wanted me dead
But there ain't no grave deep enough
Remember all the nights we had
You said it ain't so bad
Keep those heavy eyes looking up
Remember when Mary brought
Her own Jane
Lucas thought he was gonna die
The stars started falling out
Of a night cloud
From a clear Midwestern sky
I recall what she said
Screaming that the sky is red
Burning to a younger man's mind
Remember all the days we had
I'd say it ain't so bad
Keep those heavy eyes soft and kind
Oh when I'm old
I will recall
All the nights we spent outlaws
It's getting cold
But that sun is cresting
And heavy eyes ain't born for resting
Who's gonna drive us home
The boys and me
Are walking staggered vision blurred
One thing you'll come to know
The boys back home
Live for things like dead man's curve
I recall what he said
He'd rather be gone and dead
Than livin' like those sad folks in town
I can't take this soul with me
If I go I'm goin' quickly
Keep those heavy eyes free and proud
Oh when I'm old
I will recall
All the nights we spent outlaws
It's getting cold
But that sun is cresting
And heavy eyes ain't born for resting
Oh when I'm old
I will recall

…2nd zach track from rp. I like his lyrics and his “ol school” sound. his energy. it’s a bit like when charlie daniels meets the old crow medicine show at a hoedown, u know, and zach fills in for a band member who’s still at the bar drinking his beer. like that.

I trust you've noticed the sea change since RP seeks to evolve into a bona fide media outlet. William sheparded RP for more than 20 years. Now you can detect underlying agreements to promote certain new artists. This is not necessarily a bad thing. But it's safe to say the original RP did not survive the transition.
Yes. We promote certain new artists -- the ones we're excited about. Full stop.

I have listed to RP Main mix for 3 hours this morning. Incredible diversity including sufi music, middle eastern music, modern jazz, 60s classics and everything in between. I detect no steering, and certainly see nothing that prooting one artist over anohter.

So what? Bill plays what he wants to play. And that is exactly why I like this station. He put himself into a position where he does not have to compromise or please. Good for him.

Wow i love these new young alt country artists coming onto the scene...his parents must have been playing Skynyrd and the Outlaws while this guy was in the backseat...and then 10 years ago he stumbled on some Turnpike Troubadours and mixed them all together in his own songs....
This is not wearing well ...

I'm assuming Zach is Bill's nephew given how much airplay it's getting.

kind of like ryan adams...the early years
My second listening to that song. I correct my rate from 7 to 8!
Old 97's meets Split Lip Rayfield meets Zach Bryan.

Quite like this but a pale imitation to Ryan Bingham from Texas, how many times have I tried to get the great man and band play listed? I guess not enough times
Cover made me think of
Latter day Steve Earl - a good thing.
I am going for it on first listen.
Lots of first listens recently! Thanks RP!
