I can see it in the air
Every word was like a smoke from a cigarette
You were blowin' in your hands
The heater broke in the Oldsmobile

And the light in your eyes
Alone on the freeway

I was stranded in the bed
You were listening to The Dark Side of the Moon
I could barely see your eyes
Psilocybin in a hotel room

And the light in your eyes
The waves on the ceiling

I'll be your brightside, baby, tonight
I'll be your brightside, baby, tonight
Tonight

You were tired of Tacoma
I was tired of believing we were right
Losing every other friend
Finding nothing in the afterlife

But the light in your eyes
Alone on a feeling

I'll be your brightside, baby, tonight
I'll be your brightside, baby, tonight
Tonight

You're stranded on the bridge
You're crying for your kids
I'll be your brightside, baby, tonight
Tonight
Tonight

I could see it in the air
Every word was like a smoke from a cigarette
Sun is coming up ahead
Get your crack the windshield shine

And the light in your eyes
Alone on the freeway

I'll be your brightside, baby, tonight
I'll be your brightside, baby, tonight
Tonight

You're stranded it on the bridge
The cops are closing in
I'll be your brightside, baby, tonight
Tonight
Tonight

Assuming they write their own material, why is it in a key the singer can't handle?

And today, the App wouldn't let me skip to the next song. What fresh hell is this?

The search for perfection in music is a fool's errand, and completely misses the humanity of music. Maybe the app was trying to teach you a lesson in humanity?
This is almost a perfect song. The notes he hits in the chorus "brightside" just don't quite resonate with the rest of the song for me.
Man I am sooooo tired of this song.  But I like that it gives me that feeling of familiarity that I'm at Radio Paradise... so I have mixed feelings.

Kinda like the way it hurts
Just so bad to my ears - ahh PSD.
I just crowned this Bill's favorite song!  (at present)

the people saying this is out of tune or they called it in are fucking non-musical… mental. this is a brilliant tune

Just marked it down from 5 to 2 just to annoy you.

Ugh, right - that guy sings like a double amputee - can't hold a note, can't carry a tune.

Totally agree, this one feels phoned in for sure.

Surprised this isn't rated higher than a six. We are a fickle bunch. While it doesn't break new ground, it is a solid song that is well executed. I gave it an 8.

when the wheels come down
A Wonderful tune! I rated it with 8!
Just heard this live at The Gorge Amphitheatre! Being honest, went for their opener, Gregory Alan Isakov.

But the crowd stood the whole time for The Lumineers. So so neat being in a crowd of adoring fans.

I guess that's a sign this song isn't doing it for people.
Assuming they write their own material, why is it in a key the singer can't handle?

Won some tix to see them at Red Rocks a few years ago....a romp stomping good time was had by all.
Good Tune!

"You were listening to the Dark Side of the Moon. " Nice reference.

the lyrics are quite amazing, simple and dark and evocative of a sad and hopeless existence

I want to hear a cover of this by Mister Mister. I just want to hear Bill say, "That was Mister Mister Brightside."

Then they could cover Mr. Brightside by the Killers, why not?
