I can see what it is you gave me
In my silent moment

I can hear all that you have sent me
In my silent moment

To be one within you
To be not without you
To be as I once was

I can feel the love that I was missing
In my silent moment

I can be all that I was wishing
In my silent moment

To be one within you
To be not without you
To be as I once was

I don't understand why we haven't heard more from this band.. do they not have any other songs? this piece is fantastic.

Nice Harry Manx misquote.
If there ever was a song perfectly suited for magic mushrooms, this would be it.
 davidbrace61 wrote:

Actually, the opening segment is very reminiscent of Moody Blues... anybody agree on that?

Yes for sure
Reminds me on Aphrodites Child "The four horsemen".
Great, great, great 10!
This is fantastic please keep it in your rotation. A 10!
Thank you RP!
If they just cut out the wailing it would get a much better rating.
Morning music after a meditation, offerings and prayers to Lord Ganesha.
What a fun song.
Thanks.

Indeed.  a song off of Saucerful.  The name escapes me.  Remember A Day ?
i like the whole song but the layered guitar chords and chord progressions lift me up and set me right especially when i listen LOUD

Agreed, that's the best part.
I really like the indie fusion on this song.
Then I got thinking, what would the effect on an elephant be if it got stoned and then this song was played?
Okay . . . it's a beautiful sunny Spring day here, and I'm just enjoying the music selection on RP and letting my few remaining brain cells connect in whatever random pattern they see fit.
Reminds me of some old Pink Floyd

Love it, love it, love it!
is it me o main vocal sounds like David Gilmour?
That bassline. It dances throughout the song.
I love the part with the Indian infusion input. That really makes this track!

Racist much?
love this, new music new sound . . .

That's funny, because my ears perked up -- perked up BIG TIME -- when the chanting (?) started.  Sounds a little like '30s jazz scat singing, except in Hindi.
AAAAAAWWWWWW....painful!!
Ahhh... What a beautiful song.

yeah, i'm with you on this. it seems like it is unnecessary or could have been left off and it would have been an entirely different song/feel for me. downvoting. was starting off with a 6, moved down to 4 for that reason. not appealing.

Ah, but I've since learned to truly love this song. Actually bought it on iTunes and a fave to play on guitar. We can change.

This track could be on The Beatles' Revolver.
This should segue into YYY's Spitting off the Edge of the World!
Is that Nusrat?
NAMASTE!

To be clear, there are two ideas expressed in this thread about whether this song "sounds like PF":

1. "look and feel" — is the overall sound/texture/feel reminiscent of early PF?
This is subjective, so we don't all agree whether it's just "similarities", or does it really sound like them here.  It's arguable.

2. "thematic reuse" — is the melody, or anything else, similar to the PF song Remember a Day?
It absolutely is!
• Key: Both songs are actually in the same key!, E major
• Chord progression: E → Bm → A → E, with the same number of bars for each.
• Tempo: Here they differ, Remember a Day clocks in at over 110 BPM, A Silent Moment at only 80 BPM.
• Melody: very clearly almost identical. PF's lawyers could make a case. Not convinced? Bring up these YouTube links in two separate windows, side by side, use the space bar to stop and start as necessary.  Homework is due in the morning:
A Silent Moment, Elephant Stone
Remember a Day, Pink Floyd

westslope, Proclivities, et al, are behind door #1.
I and others are in behind door #2.

You're right.  Very similar.
Listen and enjoy... that is all you have to do...

No doubt. When the tabla kicks in this song goes from "meh" to "whoah."
 jjbchansen159 wrote:

The wailing at the end belongs in a different song.

No, it doesn't, actually. It belongs right where it is. And calling it wailing?...
Nice remake of "Remember a Day", but I liked it better by the Floyd.
I like arrangements like this, where the bass takes more of a lead over the guitar.
Not sure but I think the bass line is in line with RAIN by the Beatles

Good tune. The lawyers for Pink Floyd are on line 1 btw.....

Hmm, sure, there's tones of PF there, but that's because they were HUGELY influential.

I'd say it's more akin to early Stone Roses or Kasabian.

Hell, you get more than a hint of Beatles too, all wrapped up in some mystic guru style Indian music.

It's jolly good.
The wailing at the end belongs in a different song.
Good tune. The lawyers for Pink Floyd are on line 1 btw.....
simple and powerful
For some reason, it’s hitting me even more than usual today- bumping from 9>10

Elephant Stone, just like listening to my neighbor from 3 km away…. Long live music from the world!

Beautiful.

Gotta love it when RP introduces me to Canadian music.

I hear "Wa Wa."
Sounds like a Paul bassline, with Enya levels of reverb, but I love this!
Very cool song

Blissful... transcendent... beautiful! Thank you so much, RP, for bringing this to my ears! :-)

WHAT!!!  Well, technically, Montreal IS north of Portland, by about 300 miles, but I'd bet most people would consider Montreal EAST of Portland, by about 2,600 miles.

You thought nobody was listening closely, eh?

Not sure if it's Pink Floyd, but I agree that it sounds familiar in some way...

more from this band, bill!
Nice tune, but some of us old buggers know our early Floyd!
A nice song to relax to and go within
Love the long Indie/Indian ending. It could last longer for me.

Little bit. Bass line certainly lifted from late sixties/early seventies.
Wow, yet another stop what you are doing and listen moment on RP.  Thanks for this one Bill!
Wow, I'm going to have to check out more of their stuff. This is how my P-Tree addiction started all those years ago. RP can be an expensive habit.

I thought old Pink Floyd.
More like this, please!   Another RP find - thanks.

First half is sort of blah pop, but the second half is beautiful. Who's the singer on that?

You best listen to the early Floyd song "Remember A Day"- the melody is lifted note for note. I was sure it was a cover until about a minute in!

I did what you said, and there is a definite similarity, but note-for-note?  Don't hear it.  Inspired by directly or indirectly sure.  But hardly plagiarism.

Oh, and this is a cool song.  Love the Indian influences.  More please!

I had the volume turned way down and thought it was TUSK by the drum beat.
AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaaAAaaaa
I kept hearing George Harrison's "Wah Wah" (1970)...and look forward to playing these and Remember the Day (1968) about 50 times.

What is with using 'elephant' in band names? Awful names. Song is lifeless too.
