Where're you going Rusty James?
To rumble on miles and change
What you doing Patty Sue?
She says "whatcha thinking?"

I'm coming with you
I'm coming with you

Rolling out of east L.A.
Making our way to Santa Fe
Man, sure do look pretty, she said
Feels so good to get myself out of the city

Through the airwaves
Can't you feel the fall out?
It's in the airwaves
Can't you hear me calling out?

(Help me, help me, jump and shout)
(Help me, help me, jump and shout)
(Help me, help me, jump and shout)
(Help me, help me, jump and shout)

Sitting on Landis Hill
Staring out at Beverly Hills
Everybody moving so fast
Makes you feel like you're already part of the past

Through the airwaves
Can't you feel the fall out?
It's in the airwaves
Can't you hear me calling out?

(Help me, help me, jump and shout)
(Help me, help me, jump and shout)
(Help me, help me, jump and shout)

Where're you going Rusty James?
So rumble on miles and change
What you doing Betty Sue?
She says "whatcha thinking?"

I'm coming with you
I'm coming with you
I'm coming with you

(Help me, help me, jump and shout)

interesting Wiki bio there. Not so much a catalogue of his achievements as some pretty reachy comparisons with other artists

Agree. But his Oroborous album works it very well.

Well now, that's just lovely.
Can't be bothered working, I needed a distraction.

Thank you, Ray.

Heh  heh jump and shout...but who cares?
Vsn Morrison -sequee Delightful though
Great song, but I liked it better when I thought the lyrics were, "help me, help me, jump the shark"
Such a cool song...  Thanks, RP!
Our modern Van Morrison. Nice work man 👌

Sunny here, and not moving it up from my 7... very good one

"jump the shark" would be more interesting.
Yes, Van is in there. Is that why I like this song? It's great anyway on its own steam.
It might be due to Kobe Bryant's recent death, though I'm hearing Ray sing "jump shot" over and over....oh well...still a 7...LLRP!!

The first times I heard him I actually thought it was Gomez!

Quick! Somebody get that guy a respirator!

I agree, and why would someone whisper "jump and shout" anyhow?

My take: it's preceded by "help me" and the song seems to be about a yearning for a feeling in the past and/or the destruction of decent top 40 radio.... like "help me get back to that place with the good music on the radio"

Those are the words I was singing along - still a great song, tho.

Seconded.
It was this song that convinced me he’s the real deal.
I like Ray LaMontagne, but this song sounds like my cat in it's litterbox.

My question is, after all this time, did Ray manage to dislodge that hairball?

Decent song, but I really can't get into the haaaaaaaaahp meaah parts.
Awesome because that is what I heard!

Love this guy - I'm getting a little V Morrison, O Redding, JJ Cale - not a bad mix!!

I never get tired of him.
{#Roflol}
He's channeling Van Morrison.

Lyrics above have it as  "help me help me jump and shout"

though I vote for shark, if it gets Ray  a gig hosting "Shark Week"  :-)

Cannot decide whether Ray is breathy or breathless.

Just finished watching "The Gambler". This was used in the closing credits.
Turned on RP, and the first song was this one!
Twice in a row is fine by me.
Ray Rules!
Kind of sounds like the Belfast Cowboy: Van Morrison.

Mondegreens aside, Ray LaMontagne seems to have something new and fresh with each album.

Love {#Daisy}
of course.... it's "jump and shout"

well, damn, you went and spoiled it for me... before, I got to wonder what sort of mechanical, swishy sounding thing-a-ma-jig was making that distantly familiar sound...

Okay... I knew I've heard that beat before somewhere..... Yerba Buena — Electric Boogaloo

But not as bad as his gravelly moaning from his previous releases.

Very nice. This album is remarkably good, and I'm not a huge Ray fan.
Man was he good last weekend!
Van Morrison Jr.
I'm glad this gets played now and then. I get to try out the PSD button in the player. Didn't someone think to have a chat with Ray before this album was released and suggest that it's not a very good follow on for the many fans he gained with his last effort?
Are you sure he's whispering something? Wouldn't it be a kind of personal sound effects?

But I like it, not a usual use of rythm and voice.

Great hook quite a change for him.
I like it
Hmmm, pretty mediocre Ray LaMontagne. Not one of his better efforts.
And who is this Rusty James person?

I've had this album for over a month and haven't been that impressed. Then I hear one of the tracks on RP and—presto—that old "radio" magic is back!

Why do things sound different when they're Blessed by Bill

Does this represent a new sound for Ray? Whatever it is I certainly like it.

{#Lol}  I assume he was not, but that's what I hear now.
My wife works on a ward where they all sound like this.  Good music, though.  I like this guy's stuff.  Trying new sounds.  Nice to listen to.

Bought the album. Played it several times.  Songs seem similar and my mind wanders off.

I hear a single here and think Hmmm and look up to be surprised...

Glad I bought it thru RP... If you're buying CDs or MP3... Smart thing is to buy thru RP and benefit everyone...

I like that he's constantly changing his sound, looking for new stuff.
Sounds like a bulldog struggling for breath.
his best work since "Trouble"
Ok, I like this much more than Supernova.  A friend said this is really a concept album that deserves a straight through listen.  Like when they used to make 'em in the "old days!!!"  So jury still out for me....

OOH has he learned how to breathe?

Better.

Is he singing "hey-hey, hey-hey, jump the shark!" ?
He sounds like he's being strangled, poor fellow.
Never heard this guy before - worth much more than his current rating, I give him a 7.5 at least.

If he didn't sing, this wouldn't be half bad.
