Unruly type of sun, willing to spare no one. From the plains up to the peaks, this heat's stealing faith from the weak. Amidst the burning breeze, from the ground up through the trees. I hear the birds complain about the lack of the rain. And it's not the same life, here the morning's like a knife, and the river's been bone dry, where the day is not fond of light. It's bearing down on me, no clouds in the sky, I hear the pines crack and cry: "There's no reason to try."

What's with all the negative comments? I think this song is quite sublime with its peaceful, drifting mood: the sort of thing you'd listen to very softly up in an old, forgotten attic while watching the summer twilight outside the window...

Ho Hum sums up my reaction to this song quite well. Hence, I give it a 3.
What in the wild wild world of sports is this SHIT!
Irritated me

Couldn't agree more. Rare for me to really dislike something I never heard before on RP - but this made it.
Yeah Bob
Phew. It's over.

Although it has its moments, and I have a soft spot for Portland bands, it plods in spots. I'm sure that plodding was done on purpose and was supposed to be artistic, but it gets annoying after awhile. . .

YEAH! I have a hard time with understanding the vocals, but I have this weird deafness - I can only register certain frequencies, and this vocalist sings in that shadow-realm that I can't quite distinguish, so it sounds to me like he's mouthing gibberish. If I had the lyrics, I'd be able to know what he's singing. Still, I like the eclectic mix of violin, vocal, and herky-jerky beat.
This song would be good in a small, comfortable venue in the heart of Pioneer Square. Giving it a 6, until I hear it a few more times or get the lyrics.
Go PDX!

kind of Gomez-y
As I recall, "Horse Feathers" was a Marx brothers' movie.
Reminds me a little of Poco
Violins and banjos make this song likable for me. Reminds me of The Magnetic Fields, who use cello and banjo in many of their songs.
Not working for me.
