So kind to make it 'not' sound like PF so we know it's just him 
I still think it's fantastic that within the songs on this amazing record, I can hear him tweaking the strings with the same sweet bluesy jamming bends he used back in his Animals days, like in "Dogs," and it still sounds like he's having such fun, and I think it's incredibly soul-satisfying, the way he creates and builds such distinctive guitar statements and adorns them with such memorable, epic, next-level solos... JAM ON, DAVID, and thanks for the legacy!
I think we can attempt to disassociate the art from the artist. That said I will NOT pay to see RW and I would joyfully see Gilmour

Didn't realise until recently that it is his wife Polly Samson who wrote the lyrics for most of the tracks on this album, and Division Bell.

As good as ANYTHING Pink Floyd ever did. Beautiful, haunting, atmospheric, lyrical. Roger is brilliant too, but David has a musicality unmatched in his peer group. 
I love the vocals! What a great combo of singers - David Gilmour, Graham Nash, and David Crosby...

I love the man. His albums are gold. He has an impeccable ear for tone, and melody which most here cant seem to comprehend… Waters is equally exquisite to me. And Floyd was a combination of two geniuses. Haters - keep sticking your heads up your arses.
Such tasteful guitar playing. For me Gilmour has a way of getting it just right for the particular song.

I took my son, who was 16 at the time to see David at the Hollywood bowl. My son plays guitar and I had to introduce him to some great guitar playing. He just sat there during the concert totally blown away and shaking his head like " how the heck does he do that". It was awesome.

This has to be one of the best song comments on the entire website. It makes me laugh every time I read it.
Funny, both Gilmour and Waters are left-wing. But Waters exudes anger and is far too prone to pointing fingers at corporations and rich people.
That said, Waters is still brilliant and the man who must be credited with some of Pink Floyd's best work.
Wish I could sit down with Waters and persuade him to do a double-bill in Israel and the occupied West Bank. But I kinda doubt that Waters is open to Neo-Viking constructive engagement.
This could be used as anaesthesia for open heart surgery. It has the sane effect as a bottle of extra strength Dreamy Sleepy Nighty Snoozy-snooze. Aural Mogadon.

Such a great solo effort on this album. Took my 16 year old, who plays guitar, to see him at the Hollywood Bowl a few years ago. His eyes were wide open watching the beautiful and elegant way he plays guitar. Saw him and PF back in the 70s during the Dark Side of the Moon tour and never have forgotten how awesome it was. Actually, I did forget some parts but then again it was the 70s.................. just sayin'

This is as close to what Pink Floyd would sound like if they had continued to a touring band. I last saw them for the Animals tour I believe at the Hammersmith Odium in London when I was stationed in the UK back in the late 70's. (Although it might have also been somewhere in Florida. Lot of concerts back then.)

This album might sound a little dreary but its littered with fine tasteful solos with tone to die for , not to be overlooked by guitar lovers.

You know, it's good, but mostly because it reminds me of how much I loved "There's No Way Out of Here" and that period. Not sure if, on its own, I'd think so highly of it.

This will always be a 10 for me. The live version at Royal Albert Hall is note-perfect to the album version, with the added benefit of seeing David Crosby and Graham Nash doing BG vocals and Phil Manzanera on 2nd guitar.

This album might sound a little dreary but its littered with fine tasteful solos with tone to die for , not to be overlooked by guitar lovers.

Gilmour a real musical talent - His best solo work outside of Floyd - crafted layered guitars as you would expect from Gilmour - real hints of Wish you were here - a real complement!

I would be listening. I love this guy's guitar playing.
What I would expect from Gilmour: Singing, ethereal guitar work, with masterful bends and a sensitive touch of the strings few can match. The peaceful atmosphere of his personal houseboat-recording studio is reflected well in this album.
All the better for having Crosby and Nash on background vocals.
