John was a scientist, he was hooked on LSD
Interested in mind control and how the monkey held the key
Said that all of his experiments are what he's planning for the air
It's for the unsuspecting citizens who hallucinate in fear
Sing that
(Ah, ah-ah-ah ah-ah-ah-ah-ah ah)
To the backbone, a solar system, these clever convicts
(Ah, ah-ah-ah ah-ah-ah-ah-ah ah)
To the backbone, a solar system, these clever convicts
And then at Union Station with a package in his hand
Tied to the suspect and chancing where he stand
And I don't think you realize he's coming for your neck
And the sound is breaking all around, he's keeping lives in check
(Ah, ah-ah-ah ah-ah-ah-ah-ah ah)
To the backbone, a solar system, these clever convicts
(Ah, ah-ah-ah ah-ah-ah-ah-ah ah)
To the backbone, a solar system, these clever convicts
Making his getaway through a punched-up mirror
He blend into the crowd, and hear the system scream
And all those spies that strikes your hip are clinging to their guns
And if you smell those almonds, man, I think you better run

unbelievable...
The singer reminds me a bit of Mark E Smith of The Fall fame, though rather more tuneful and less aggressive.

"The band took their name from Linda Kasabian, the young pregnant girl who drove the car in which the killers escaped after the murder of Leno and Rosemary Labianca, the second of the Tate-Labianca murders.
The band has been compared with the likes of Primal Scream, with whom they share an electronica-indie rock fusion, and The Stone Roses and Oasis, with whom they share confidence, swagger and rough vocal style"

I'm not really familiar with these guys but off the cuff I would say that this is watered down Rage Against the Machine. Now RATM is something I could get behind being on RP. Especially their cover of Springsteen's Ghost of Tom Joad.

This isn't rap. It might be more rap-ish than the last emmylou harris tune, but my god. Rap? not even close.

I'm with you there. I think RP could use a little more Hip Hop, but I'm still happy to have it playing all day even if they don't.

It's about as close as we get here. We're not real likely to hear Mos Def or Dialated Peoples here. Maybe some Roots though .... hhmmmm ... I'll have to check the Music list.
Less Rapping more un-rapping!

Actually, Bill does play a few, from time to time. And I nearly always enjoy them. The perfect dosage, apparently.

I don't buy CDs with copy protection (no exceptions), so I guess I'm out of luck and so is the band. The same goes for David Gray's last album (and I'm a big fan of his).

do a search for a program that can break the copy protection code, they are out there.
This is a different remix than the one I have...I like this one better.
Kick butt.
I saw them in Tempe, AZ, Spring '06 -- great show! I just heard that they're taking Oz (Australia) by storm. Good luck to them!
A shiny 2 for this one!
Wow I had rated this a 3, but after getting the album and getting into it, I have to up it.
It's too bad there isn't a rating below sucko-barfo.
These guys nicked my nephew's drummer.

I'd like to hear this played back to back with Jim White's "Handcuffed to a fence in Mississippi".
Dreadful. (The song should listen to its own advice)
Reminds me of the Clash.
a great way to start the day!!!!!!

Like the song, but the lyrics make about as much sense as an early REM song.
There are much better songs on this disc, but I do like Kasabian
The more I hear it, the more I like it.

More accurately, it means the musicians in question have adopted a sound in such a similiar fashion (note the word derivative) as to have created something that is lacking in any innovation or inherent originality.
Sure, all music has influences. Being inspired by something is one thing, taking it and bastardizing it (and blandly, at that) is quite another.

I just bought the album yesterday. It's awesome. Not a bad song on it.

Yup, nothing like a bit of Kasabian (that's ka-say-be-en Bill, not ka-sab-ee-en )
Just need some Club Foot now... oh yeah
OK, so they found a groove - but nothing happens. After a few bars, boredom set in here.

Muscially and vocaly, this work great. I just don't find much enjoyment in the actual lyrics.

I have mixed feelings about this band. They're catchy and all, but it's almost like they're cleverly manufactured. They're not like rock star material, but they're just popular enough to sell. It's weird.

These guys have the most exciting sound I've heard in a while. There were a couple of songs on this disk (which I play incessantly in the car and feel like a badass every time) that sound like they could easily become part of a James Bond soundtrack. Groooooovy!
did anyone see these guys at lollapalooza yesterday? they played early in the afternoon when the temperature was 102 degrees! not enough to draw me out of the air conditioning... g love was, though.

Just count yourselves lucky that you have not been forcefed Keane yet! .
LOL wow. Actually, I've heard 2 Keane songs on a couple of the ubiquitous Clear Channel stations here in the US, he's hopped the pond!
By far the weakest of the tracks I've heard from this disc.
rah wrote:.
care to expand on that?
i guess my point is born from aggrevation that this, lets face it, rather mediocre band are trumpeted (thanks to the combination of a major label backer and a sychophantic music press) as 'the future of music' and some how dangerous(!) and cutting edge. i truly despair if the future of British music is ripping off Primal Scream.
i'm sure in the US & elsewhere their exposure is barely enough to register so my fury may seem a little odd but if you had to put up with the ridiculous hype machine that the UK music industry has become i'm sure it would grate too. Just count yourselves lucky that you have not been forcefed Keane yet! Kasabian is a real psyche-pop band, I like them very much... I'm going to see them live on Saturday! (les Eurockeenes de Belfort - France)
I guess if it's too loud, I'm too old...
suprised to hear Kasabian do Limp Bizkit - I don't like this track that much

really starting to dig these guys. thanks for the introduction bill.
This has been eating at me:
Can anyone tell me why this song, particularly its lead-in and chorus, reminds me so much of a Nirvana performance?
Edit: Wait a minute. I may be confusing this with "Processed Beats" and its lead-in/chorus, which leads to another question: Why can't I tell the difference between one Kasabian rendition and the next?

You know how every now and then and bunch of songs will come along that, when you hear them, makes you think "hey, that's pretty good, I wonder who this is?", and it turns out to be the same band for all of them? Right now, Kasabian is that band. Maybe I need to pick up the disc.

I hear what the quote is saying, in that they are clearly influenced by them, but I don't feel that they hold a candle to any of those bands.
