Greasy, slicked-down body, groovy leather trim
I like the way you hold the road, mama, it ain't no sin
Talkin' 'bout love, talkin' 'bout love, talkin' 'bout

Ooh, trouble-free transmission helps your oil's flow
Mama, let me pump your gas, mama, let me do it all
Talkin' 'bout love, ah, talkin' 'bout love, ooh, I'm talkin' 'bout

Dig that heavy metal underneath your hood
Baby, I can work all night, believe I got the perfect tools
Talkin' 'bout lo-ove, talkin' 'bout lo-ove, talkin' 'bout

Model built for comfort, really built with style
Special extra edition, mama, let me feast my eyes
Talkin' 'bout love, talkin' 'bout love, talkin' 'bout

Factory air-conditioned, heat begins to rise
Guaranteed to run for hours, mama, you're the perfect size
Talkin' 'bout love, talkin' 'bout love, talkin' 'bout

Groovin' on the freeway, gauges all on red
Gun down on my gasoline, believe I'm gonna crack a head
Talkin' 'bout love, talkin' 'bout love, I'm talkin' 'bout

I can't stop talkin' about, I can't stop talkin' about
Ooh, yeah, yes-ah, drive on

Ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yes, I'm comin' through

Come to me for service every hundred miles
Baby, let me check your points, fix your overdrive
Talkin' 'bout love, I'm talkin' 'bout love, I'm talkin' 'bout

Ooh, yes, fully automatic, comes in any size
Makes me wonder what I did before we synchronized
Talkin' 'bout lo-ove, talkin' 'bout love, I'm talkin' 'bout

Ooh, feather-light suspension, Konis couldn't hold
I'm so glad I took a look inside your showroom doors

Talkin' 'bout love, talkin' 'bout low-oh-hove, talkin' 'bout
Oh, I can't, I can't, oh, I can't stop talkin' about love
I can't stop talkin' about love

Ooh, let me gun down, gun down
Gun down, gun down, gun down, yes
I can't stop talkin' about
I can't stop talkin' about lo-ove, baby
I can't stop talkin' about love, a-my baby
I can't stop talkin' about love, my baby-ah
My baby, my baby, yeah
Unnh, push, push, push, yes, push, push
Ooh-ahh-ohh-ooh

Agree.
Seiner Zeit weit voraus.
Anybody ever count how many times Jimmy P plays that same lick throughout the song? Fingers must have been blistered....
Thats exactly what I needed this Friday evening.
Every time I hear this I think ‘so this is how Zep does disco …’.  🤣

(obviously) not my fav LZ but ok.   I gave it a 6
Can someone explain what the title of this tune has to do with the lyrics?

What? That's terrible! How long have you gone without your beer?!

I get it with Bonham. Very good drummer that create a unique hard rnr sound.

But Mr. Moon  is the greatest rnr drummer.  Every single Who song, you can hear something unique about his drumming. You can't say the same about Bonham. Like on this song. His drumming is OK, but not Moon-like.
Good Tune! Not their best one, but very good.

Well at least they credited their source on this one. Which hasn't always been the case.
Great song and terrific band anyway.

Wicked indeed! When I heared the first couple of notes I wondered if this would be Superstition. And then I heared Plant singing ... naah, it can't be ... so I opened the RP site and voila {#Cheesygrin}

This kind of new bands these days rarely get more than one album out before they fade into oblivion. Kids' attention span is insufficient to be able to work together for two years !

Oooooh those keyboards rule

Led Zep will always be my favorite all time band. There are some close seconds but none like the Zep.

This album is awesome, definitely my favorite, especially the second album. Let's go Boogie with Stu and a Black Country Woman In the Light Down by the Seaside before you know it Ten Years Gone.

Not a Zep fan really...but I have the utmost respect for this amazing band. I really appreciate what they contributed to the Rock scene in the late 60s, 70s and 80s. We will never hear this kind of musicianship or writing ever again in the mainstream. {#Notworthy}

Not my favorite Zep by a stretch.  Only two ways to go with this one.  Turn it up or mute it.

This is one song that does not allow passive listening.  It just sucks you in.

For the most part, the seventies was the dead-zone of music...  At least it spawned punk and new wave...

I purchased all the major box sets for Zeppelin such that I have their entire catalog. My conclusion: With the exception of a handful of tracks, Zeppelin didn't put out a bad song. Pretty amazing considering the volume of music they recorded.
This is not a favorite of mine, but "Kashmir" is.
Re 2003 vs. 2011: not that much different to me; some outstanding stuff from each era and mostly really lousy stuff from both eras. Sort of like every era. IMHO, mind you.

Wierd - "Heard It Through the Grapvine" then this?

Interesting to think "Trampled" was released only 8 years after "Grapevine".     Does 2011 music sound so much different from 2003?   Discuss ....
Sometimes, only Led Zeppelin will do for the mood I'm in...
I just searched for the lyrics for Trampled Underfoot.  I looked at three different sites.  Each one came back with slightly different words.  I get the point, in any case, but it would be interesting to know what the "official" lyrics are.  Were there ever liner notes for this song?

Remastered, but still that strong, characteristic rock beat....
Main recurring riff sounds like something Foreigner tried to do a few times...especially the bass guitar part.

Actually, this is Robert Johnson - Terraplane Blues. I assume you are referring to the hook of course. The link indicates that this was a LZ tribute to the original which used a Terraplane as a metaphor for sexuality and infidelity. The entry for this song references The Complete Guide to the Music of Led Zeppelin as indicating that, yes this is a song about sex :-)

Aha.  Sexual congress.

I should have done a quick lyrics search.   My actual problem was that I couldn't understand a damned word he's saying.  It's only too obvious seeing it in print.  Had they had lyrics-search in the 70's, I probably would have spent less time in the garage.

Odd how I automatically do a lyrics-search for any song recorded after 1995.  For anything before The Internets, I just assume the only way to figure out the lyrics is to put my finger on the record to slow it down a little bit, or ask my stoned friends.

So..... It ain't fact, its opinion
What a catalog of great music!
guess bill reads the comments, and has a wicked sense of humor.  the last song was Marvin Gaye's Hoidittruedagrapevine, and a commenter to that song posits that as long as we keep hearing it without a rest, it will be trampled underfoot in our hurry to live.  good one Bill.  why i keep listening to this, and reading the comments!

my age has come back to cheer me up...how great can Zepplin get. they were never trampled underfoot :-)
Now you're talking! I remember in high school both the white stoner dudes and the rappin' brothers both loved the song.
i first heard trampled underfoot on the douvle dvd eeeeverybody bought instantly when it was released. it's the live version from 1975, earl's court ( i almst typed earl grey ). i always loved funk music, and that's what i call pure funk, even if some sure like to call iot disco i don't give a "beeep". and i love to see jimmy play like a chilkd on his flying les paul. it's what music is supposed to be according to me, just fun. well ,to sum it all up, i like the song, even the slower version, that is to say the studio take from physical graffiti. that was my first post here. and my favorite led zep album is houses of the holy.
