In a hotel room just off Times Square it's like a closet
I can watch the dancing class go round.
In a hotel room that costs as much as my apartment
I can watch the working class go down.
And it's enough to make a crooked man go straight -
Broadway, Broadway.
In a hotel room just off Times Square they made a monster
He was unaware of what went down.
Fattening him up just like a calf before a slaughter
He'd had his fill of hollow town.
And it's enough to make a stupid man think straight
Broadway, Broadway

Thought this was James, Waltzing Along at first.
Turned the volume up, I don't care!!!
sounds like a mix of the cure and green day.
Great live band. Infectious energy.
Timebomb (the lead-off track on this album) can get a little overplayed at times...BUT NOT HERE!
Let's get it added to RP's playlist.

Gotta say, this baby really JAMS it up on a cloudy gloomy day! Thanks, RP, and Old 97s!

Jeesh - must be my mood but I really would have liked to hear something different after the Shins...
Rockin Tuesday morning here on RP ...

I don't usually rate a song as an 8 the first time listening to it, but I did this time. Hmmm I must be in a good mood - even though I am doing my taxes.
Meh...not too bad. I say "5 - Decent".
This band rocks sooo much. Check them out!!!

Love this band, for, oh, about eleven years now I've listened to this band, and not a moment of it has been time wasted.

Just saw them over the holidays in Austin. He can toss that mop of hair around like no bodies bizness! Lots o fun fo everyone!
Love Old 97's! They opened for Chris Isaak at The Backyard once: great set. They're from Denton, north of Dallas, but don't hold that against them: they're the real deal.

This guy's voice kinda sorta reminds me of Robert Smith's (The Cure). Has some similar element.
I heard it too.
And I agree with hippiechick too... he's adorable!

they got at least two other songs that sound exactly like this one.
'jagged' and 'the new kid'
'the new kid' is the best version of this tune, IMO
This song made me want to never get a hotel room just off Times Square.
LOVE this band!!!
the old Old97s... Gota lovemu

this CD is exceptional as well Barrier Reef and Streets from Where I'm From, both excellent choices off this collection.
Gotta agree with both statements. Best CD from Old 97's. No bad songs, I would add W. TX Teardrops and Big Brown Eyes as favorites (how many favorites can I Have?)

Sorry but I find this headache inducing. Seems like a cross between roots rock and Happy Mondays/Stone Roses, which is not a good recipe.
Yeah I don't know if that's what this is but I think I'd like to hear some of that. Got any?
That was a rockin' little tune! I dug it. And I totally agree, hippiechick, Rhett is very dreameeee indeed.
Rhett (lead singer) is sooo dreameeee!!!!

Try some Enya, very soothing
I'm a pretty big Old 97's fan, but I don't have this album (yet). Even though I hadn't heard this song, I instantly knew who it was. The drum work in this song is used a bit much in their earlier stuff, but it still works for me.
I can see this giving some a headache, but it does work for me. The cleverness of the lyrics in many of their songs is what keeps me coming back for more. That, and the quirky/cool singing style.
Anyway, always glad to hear them here, and definitely glad to hear one for the first time.

One of the best of the 90s. I just *knew* someone would have uploaded this before now, so I figured it got a "sorry." If I'da known, I'da uploaded it way before now.
Anyhoo. 10.
Just saw these guys in concert at Summerfest in Milwaukee. Awesome!
