Well I'm goin' away to leave
Won't be back no more
Goin' back down south, child
Don't you want to go?
Woman I'm troubled, I be all worried in mind
Well baby I just can't be satisfied
And I just can't keep from cryin'.

Well I feel like snappin'
Pistol in your face
I'm gonna let some graveyard
Lord be your resting place
Woman I'm troubled, I be all worried in mind
Well baby I can never be satisfied
And I just can't keep from cryin'.

Well now all in my sleep
Hear my doorbell ring
Looking for my baby
I couldn't see not a doggone thing
Woman I was troubled, I was all worried in mind
Well honey I could never be satisfied
And I just couldn't keep from cryin'.

Well I know my little old baby
She gonna jump and shout
That old train be late man, Lord
And I come walking out
I be troubled, I be all worried in mind
Well honey ain't no way in the world could we be satisfied
And I just can't keep from crying.

Cool. Saw him open for Clapton in Brussels in 76 or 77. Clapton couldnt keep up.

Saw him open -- get ready - he opened for Ted Nugent. He was hypnotic. All I remember of Ted Nugent was that people were spitting on him from the floor and he was spitting back at them. I'm dating myself, I know since I was lucky enough to see him as a teenager, so unexposed to good music that I bought concert tickets to a Ted Nugent concert.
I prefer his solo versions.

Johnny Winter was da best at everything he did. Period.
And unless you saw him live I don't want any arguments.

I wish people could figure out how to reply to comments. It's really quite simple.
Anyway, the only part of the comment above that I actually wrote was "Thank you, LP", which was a reply to LowPhreak's comment, pointing out that there are lots of great white blues players out there. Yeesh.

Carl: I'm the exterminator.

George: Oh, yes of course, come in.

Carl: Why didn't you want me to bring my equipment or wear my uniform?

George: Yes, well, if the other people in the office saw that I called an exterminator, they would just panic. Besides, this is sort of a friendly visit. Carl, right?

Carl: Do I know you?

George: Yeah, sure, we met at Jerry Seinfeld's apartment. When you fumigated for fleas over there.

Carl: Seinfeld... Oh yeah, funny white guy, right?

George: Jerry? Yes, I suppose he is white. You know, I never really thought about it. I don't see people in terms of color. You know, there's someone I'd like you to meet. Hang on... (To phone) Is Mr. Morgan in?

Phone: Mr. Morgan left for dinner.

George: He left... huh... Carl, you hungry?

No comments: just play loud and enjoy pure real blues!!

Harsh.    We brits would always have a spot for Eric Clapton (a.k.a slowhand or God) in the blues pantheon.

That "Captured Live" album has the definitive version of several of Johnny's songs, including "Roll With Me", "Bony Maronie", "Rock and Roll People", "It's All Over Now", "and "Highway 61 Revisited". Album: John Dawson Winter III, cut entitled "Stranger In This Town" might make the upload.
Hitchhiked to New haven to see Muddy open for the Allman bros in 1974 or 1975. Quite the show.

Always great to hear Muddy Waters!

I remember when I was in my early teens, and pretty much the only stuff I listened to was metal.
My father was a potter, and I remember his apprentice listening to some interesting music.
So I asked him to make some tapes for me.
The first handful of cassettes he gave me consisted of The Grateful Dead, The Band, John Lee Hooker, and Muddy Waters.
From my first listen, I was hooked on all of them.
I recall listening to that Muddy Waters over and over again as I rode the bus to school.
That stuff changed my life!

Was your father's name Harry?

Just a few years back I didn't give a s*it about blues. That has changed...getting older is actually quite sweet. Excellent song. JUMP AND SHOUT!

I love the way Johnny Winter yells, "Yeah, we got that one down!" at the end....
I remember buying my first Muddy record - coming to him as most of us have from the rock and roll gods who in turn worshipped at his altar.  The experience definitely gave me a deeper sense of the timeless connections between the experiences of all of us humans.

Dunno... it's fun, but I struggle to see how it's Godlike.
'Em there is the blues.
There are similarities, but there similarities in an lot of standard blues pieces.
Anyone else notice that this tune is almost interchangeable with "Deep Elem Blues"? (At least the way the Dead sing it)

True. I was man-handled for a show at HOB. Tickets were no cheap and beer was $$$$.
You just can't beat a good bit of old-time shitkicking blues from one of the all-time masters. Brill!

Yeah! Incredible feeling of "being there in the same room as the band". Can't help but stomp my foot on this one.

So true. The music itself can be replicated technically, but not with the visceral emotion that went with it. These guys are like the old WWII veterans. Not too many of them left from that magical era. See them now, if you can.
Lovin' this set of countrified blues and R&B. Keep it coming!

dot tosses jhonny a cheap beer. cheap brail beer. dot.
Johnny produced about four of Muddy's albums in the 80's. hmmm, I guess the time has come to upload Johnny's version of Highway 61 from his second album called Second Winter with his brother Edgar. His cover of Highway 61 was every bit as incredible as Hendrix's cover of All Along the Watchtower. I read somewhere that Bob Dylan (songwriter of both songs :>), prefers Johnny's to his own...
go johnny go.
Not too often one hears Muddy going acoustic. Probably a first for me. Brilliant !
thats what im talkin bout. johnny winter on guitar, and wailin too. never hear johnny out hear. only a pale imitation of johnny and hendrix; stevie ray.

As much as I like some blues, I can't seem to resonate with Muddy Waters....don't like the style of the song. Reminds me to much of Hee Haw!

Without question it's Winter. Voice and slide!
Wow...a Muddy song I enjoy. His voice is like syrup and the slide work is like honing a dull knife on a steel...and I like that. And MAN, the beat does a lot for this song, too.
Muddy!
