I was crawling through a festival way out west
I was thinking about love and the acid test
But first I got real dizzy with a real rockin' gang
Then I saw the coma girl, on the excitement gang

And the rain came in from the wide blue yonder
Through all the stages, I wandered

Oh coma girl, on the excitement gang
Mona Lisa, on a motorcycle gang
Coma girl, coma girl

The coma girl was beating with the oil drum gang
Some fast food fanatics was burning down a burger van
Somebody was wailing off their head
Oh!
Nobody was rippin' the teen scene dead

And the rain, came in from the wide blue yonder
I thought you and me might wander...

Oh coma girl, on the excitement gang
Mona Lisa, on a motorcycle gang
Coma girl, coma girl on a motorcycle gang

And then the nineteenth hour was falling upon desolation row
Some outlaw band, had the last drop on the go
Let's siphon up some gas! Let's get this show on the road!
Said the coma girl, to the excitement gang
Into action, everybody sprang
And the oil drums were beating out, doolang, doolang

Coma girl on the excitement gang
Mona Lisa on a motorcycle gang
Coma girl
Coma girl

Yup. Sitting in my office listening to a nice set of bookshelf speakers.....and a 12" sub hidden behind my filing cabinet! Sounds very good indeed... thanks again, RP
Some outlaw band...
Reminds me of Tommy Gun from Gimme enough rope
Something about this song that always reminds me of Springsteen and Born to Run.

This is such a great track. Always gets turned up.

I can't really separate my reactions to either band. If no Clash, no Mescaleros. Freakin' Clash were musical marauders.

Finally a solo LP worthy of the ex-Clash from Joe - brilliant, unfortunately posthumous.

I don't think Rosa Parks' coolness was being called into question, I believe it was a gender-specific term which was being contested: "Dude" ordinarily refers to a male - as does "guy".  Also, I don't believe she carried a hand-gun ("packed heat") in those days.  I guess I'm just being too literal.

Um, Rosa Parks was not a cool dude.

Also, Prince may be brilliant, creative, admirable, and so forth, but he is not a particularly cool dude, either on or off stage (I've been backstage).  He's probably a cool dude when he's having Thanksgiving dinner at the Nelsons' in Edina, Minnesota, but otherwise, like most egomaniacs, he has trouble pulling off the cool dude thing.  I would asterisk Bob Dylan's name for the same reason.  Bowie pulls it off, and Mick sort of does.

Also, to ellenaut the literalist, the song really is "Mairzy Doats."  But it looks like your decoder ring is working just fine.

Joe Strummer
Stephen Hawking
Steve McQueen
Hunter Thompson
Richard Thompson
Richard Feynman
Rosa Parks
Randy Pausch
James Dean
Jaco Pastorius

You can name a ton of cool folks, but Joe Strummer was a founding member one of the coolest bands ever, The Clash. Plus, this is a very cool song.

RIP, Joe!

It's a Saturday afternoon, and the weather is idyllic. I'm going to a house-warming party for some friends who share the same Left-of-center politics that I do. There are gonna be some f*ck-head Right-wingers there to talk sh*t to, as well!

+ some nice looking single women to mingle with!

And "Grampy" McCain seems to be self-destructing, just in time for the Nov.4th POTUS Election. Dammit, Beavis, it just don't get any better! {#Dancingbanana}{#Dancingbanana_2}{#Whipit}{#Clap}{#Roflol}

Saw Morphine in a really small club in Philly many years back. Sandman was standing at the bar doing shots and smoking so casually I didn't realize it was him. Finished his last shot and walked over to the stage. Coooooooollllll.
It was an awesome show with the exception of the chick yelling "PLAAY KI-ANDY-LLAND!!!" behind me in the worst New Jersey accent.

I find these guys, just to name a few off the top of my head, much cooler:
Ghandi
Lincoln
Einstein
Phil Ochs
Malcolm X.

His new stuff is different. It's not necessary better (for me). The Clash made many albums other than London Calling. My 12 year old son has educated his father on that one (Ha!). And alot of this stuff is very good. His new stuff is more mature. The Clash is raw, elemental, the basic building blocks of rock and roll gathered up, tossed out, and laid out in new and interesting patterns for our public consumption. Long Live Joe Strummer!
