Running with my rain face on
Today I woke up feeling sad
I know that you said,
That one day I would be glad
Hold the Choirs of Winter,

The Birds are calling to me and
All the leaves I came to love are falling
Ribbons on evergreen, owls that pull them apart
I can hear you singing my funny valentine
Oh you know that breaks my heart
Hold the choirs of winter,
The Birds are calling to me and
All the leaves I came to love

Oh you know that breaks my heart
Oh you know that breaks my heart

Running with my rain face on
No Idea of what to say
No idea of who to do
In this fear that never goes
Waiting for all my dreams
Oh you know it breaks my heart
Hold the Choirs of Winter,
The Birds are calling to me and
All the leaves I came to love

Oh you know it breaks my heart
Oh you know it breaks my heart
Oh you know That breaks my heart

Great stuff, RP! Always glad to hear Faithless and this song is a particular favourite.

Although Faithless are perhaps best known for featuring Dido on vocals, the singer on this track is a lady called Zoë Johnston. I think you'll agree with me that she does have the most incredible voice - silky, sultry yet with a perfect clarity and pitch.

If you can get to see Faithless live please do - they are such a great live band.

Until I read your comment, I would have bet money that the female singer was Sarah Mclachlan.  But yes, Zoe Johnston does indeed have an incredible voice!

Dido...pretty darn good!

What a fabulous album 👍
Had to make sure I made this a solid “10.”

I just melt when this song plays….i loved it the first time I heard it and it still makes me pause and breathe.

There’s something so melancholic and completely soothing—if not a bit sad — about it.The harmonies and rhythms are magical to me.

Never heard of Faithless before RP….I’m ever so grateful…
Man, those drums... ta ta du ta ta ... I love it. Turn it up.
Great band. Like to hear more by them. “Mass Destruction” is a particular fave. It has the vocal dexterity of hip hop, and a devastating beat that relentlessly coerces my body into involuntary motion.

In certain dialects of the English language it is not mispronouncing. Save your hate for things worthy of it. Some where  someone hates the way you pronounce certain words... so what?
Seldom the sound of a breaking heart was more pleasant to the ear.
Anyone know if the material in question breaks the singer's heart?
Always close to my heart, Faithless. Hope you are doing well. 😘
ale fajna przestrzeń i oddech muzyczny
This green one goes down well with this tune✌️
Thanks for playing this Bill & Rebecca, RP introduced this to me...me likey
Over here in Europe they are pretty popular.... Great Band. They once played in the Forest Theatre in Brussels. The Meteorologic institute nearby noted a small earthquake during the concert. I consider them in the same catogory as Massive Attack.

Seriously tho, where are you hearing about these guys and hearing their music, other than here? I was under the impression they're relatively obscure if you aren't an 2000's era trance head.

Something to do with the percussive precision and the homage to Sarah McLachlin.
When we’re in your zone ~ that’s the RP Zone ... just sit back, and let it wash over you ..... OxoyccoBrixton ....,,..
some one said this sounds like DIDO,  l believe that yet prevaricate

Id do her for fun if she IDd herself International Drug Detection Houma...good guy caught me taking legit scrip at the heliport when outbound to BP Platform, I don't remember which one... but I flew home first class after triny to sweet talk the inspectors. I turn the volume up every time this comes up in rotation, so I just had to bump my rating.
Strong echoes of Depeche Mode.  Very enjoyable!

Thank you for the beautiful music this morning.
While the tunes are comforting, lyrics are very depressing.

Always loved Faithless but in my opinion this album and "To All New Arrivals" were my least favorite of their discography.  "The Dance" is their best, though!  Wish I got to see them live one day...
The name of the group. The lyrics in this song. Dreary.
beautiful !!
Just after midnight on xmess eve, after a full day of RP as soundtrack as all the last minute rigamorale got done. Bill's been on a roll today, and tonight has been such a trippy blend, lovely to head to bed with this dancing in my head.  Lovely end to the day.
lush
This is still my favourite version, shame there is no better quality:

I'll second that. It's so different from the usual Faithless output, which tends to go in one ear and out of the other. A beautiful and transporting song :)

Yes, I was about to comment about this tune being the real standout on that album.
This grew on me.  Ethereal and soothing.
Yep. Fabulous cover. Fabulous music.

Terrific album cover.

In fairness they may have pronounced it right and merely spelled it wrong.  I hate it when I am on the bog when this song comes on and can't hit PSD.

Her name is actually Zoe Johnston. She also sings on 'Swollen' by Bent - is on RP's playlist. Kind of a bit like Sarah, Marina Belica and Mary Fahl - but different.  I love them all! {#Cool}

Faithless in top form. {#Sunny}
really very nice.

Feels good..
For a second I thought it was Florence and the machine. Glad to see it wasn't her, not that Florence isn't good.
Never heared this before. Very nice!
As long there is no or less rap in his songs I like faithless.
This is one of my favorite!
Do I like this song?  I have no idear...

Odd accent and odd way of saying idea in the song.

Thanks Fred, saw several Eschers this year and your pointer brought back the experiences nicely. Now I have to go look up Dotore Phibes.

Wikipedia is your friend. Dr Phibes was an unforgettable 'Phantom of the Opera' character played with tongue firmly in cheek by the late, great Vincent Price.

Nice. I have similar memories of a Hybrid CD and west Texas from a few years ago: Santa Elena Canyon, the Davis Mountains, and a tornado off in the distance.

I was compelled to google the singer. Her name is Zoe Johnston.

Tell me of a successful recording artist who didn't record in the studio.  Art is artful, artifice, artificial.

BTW, most people are unaware of it.... Bonn is Bono's mis-spelt little brother.

Nothing like stealing another artist's ideas as you have none of your own - or did you invent the line"need somebody to love"?

Funny, while listening to Catherine Wheel's Fripp, I thought this would make a great segue.  I'd like tohear more from this album, though, to see if it's yet another one that RP is going to make me buy.{#Jump}

Music is in the ear of the beholder. To criticize any music for poor choice of instruments is valid only if the sound doesn't work for the song. I write almost entirely for piano & it's a pure sound, but some songs require more or would sound better if arranged with more instruments.
Agreed.  Nicely stated.  Seems pointless to criticize a song for any reason, though I'm guilty of such a thing on here.  Nice that we are free to debate.  What I absolutely love is crap to someone else, yes?  I guess that's what makes the world go 'round.
