I can feel the thunder storms inside
I wake every morning and the cold winds cover me
All I've got's a ghost of what could be
If you can see the lights shine in front of me
If you can see the lights shout out where you'll be
I'm in a broken dream I stare out into space
You know I called you up cos nothing takes your place
I've got a heart of stone and it's sinking deep inside
I want to tell you love I'm too proud to cry
If you can see the lights shine in front of me
If you can see the lights shout out where you'll be
Summer's gone and I can't tell you lies
Oh forgive me love I'm too proud to cry
If you can see the lights shine in front of me
If you can see the lights shout out where you'll be
Summer's gone and I can't tell you lies
Forgive me love I'm too proud to cry
Too proud to cry
Too proud to cry
Too proud to cry

I don't want to alarm anyone, but RP might be turning me into a Simple Minds fan.
How you getting on with that, friend?
It's a pretty nice place to be.
U2 light, but even more pretentious - sucks big time...
You want to say viceversa 🙂
SM were incredible in the 80s but hugely declined in the 90s.
They've gone back to their 80s sound, brought in younger musicians, and have had a bit of resurgence. This is a new song from 2022:

U2 wants to be Simple Minds when it grows up
They were apparently a source of inspiration of U2.
Both bands started round the same time.
Bono has joined them on stage to sing in the past. He and Jim are friends.
Brilliant stuff, Charlie Burchill has such a wonderful touch and timing. I recall seeing them in Brighton in '84 with some of my old chums supporting them and the prvious year at Phoenix Park Racecourse, Dublin on a bill including Big Country, Eurythmics and U2. By one measure it seems so long ago, by another it was yesterday. Great, great.
One more band that I did not appreciate at the time (90s), But listening to them in FLAC with great headphones, amp & DAC, really makes me appreciate them better now!
check out New Gold Dream 81 82 83 84. Earlier album with exceptional production to go along with great songs
Very U2esque

'Fraid so. 'Tis true.
Ditto. These two songs are like, cousins or something. Definite family resemblance, knowwhatImean?

Simple mind.

U2 are light, but even more pretentious. FTFY
One of the most influential bands of the time.
I can't think of anything I would NOT understand more than what you said.....
This song gets a 6 from me....OK, not great, maybe it'll grow on me, maybe not....Long Live RP!!
More Simple Minds!
LOVED this band...
love this song !
I agree.. except for the part about being pretentious and sucky.
Always enjoyed their music.

Trotting this up top, because "Welcome to the Boomtown" is such a great old song and really would fit after this one! Good catch, superflyLD!

No they don't. Just Bono and U2, and I have pictures of him doing it.
