You gotta be on somebody's books
The lowdown - a picture of your face
Your injured looks
The sacred and profane
The pleasure and the pain
Somewhere your fingerprints remain concrete
And it's your face I'm looking for on every street
A ladykiller - regulation tattoo
Silver spurs on his heels
Says - what can I tell you, as I'm standing next to you
She threw herself under my wheels
Oh it's a dangerous road
And a hazardous load
And the fireworks over liberty explode in the heat
And it's your face I'm looking for on every street
A three-chord symphony crashes into space
The moon is hanging upside down
I don't know why it is I'm still on the case
It's a ravenous town
And you still refuse to be traced
Seems to me such a waste
And every victory has a taste that's bittersweet
And it's your face I'm looking for on every street
And it's your face I'm looking for on every street
Now name a favorite Gays song.
Solid "9" from me! ;))
Now name a favorite Gays song.
GREAT MIX !!!
THANK YOU R.P
Well, I think you should take it easy on yourself. But if you hadn't mentioned it I wouldn't have realized that was a sop sax in the background. Now that I know, this is going on my sax playlist, so thanks!
Thankfully, this song was written before Google and Facebook. Who knows what this would have been in the 21st century? "On Every Social Media Platform"?
prescient music indeed
"ENOUGH" is profoundly incorrect.
to a crappy beginning!
The beginning sets up the ending!
It's called the PSD button. Perhaps you should try it instead of screaming.
to a crappy beginning!
love. it.
exactly

And of course not to forget the phenomenal work on the pedal steel by Paul Franklin, the world's best! Especially in the live version from "On The Night"!
Love the steel pedal guitar. Someone needs to rescue it from its near-exclusive use only in country music.
love. it.
I agree; great song, crappy artwork.
With vinyl making a comeback hopefully there will be a return to better cover art.

That's 28 altogether then :)) :))
and he plays it all without a pick. one of the most unique players out there!!!
Jeff Beck is another sans pick guitarist and he is pretty high on my list also.
You should check out the live version... Galloping drums and more guitars and shivers up and down my spine!
I USE ARCHOS (and you should do too)
Not familiar with ARCHOS, thanks for turning me on, I avoid Apple products like the plauge. Delicate pieces of poo they are.
Never liked this album, but have to admit that
the ugly album cover might have had a negative impact!
Why do I admit to this? Such a stupid reason!
Must admit...I have succumbed for this same reason once in a while. I truly think some artists are careless about assigning artwork to represent the music therein. The old days of vinyl and larger album art seemed to lend itself to more attention to the artwork per se. It seems to be in vogue these days to have lazy, careless or sloppy artwork...these days its almost trendy to do something that makes people go..."wuhhhhh?". Ok...soapbox over and done with.

Yes.
Well, it is the worst they put out, but you can't really complain about 18ct. gold vs pure when so many other artists are putting out silver at best.
OF course, in the office I need to channel all that energy through headphones directly to my grey matter....resulting in massive decrusting from stagnant areas and fresh new thinking on a whole range of topics!
...and that one of the reasons I listen to RP. I need something to get me thinking in new ways.
Great album too... From the tongue in cheek brilliance of My Parties to the soaring heights of this. Love 'Straits.

Exact same!
ALWAYS a 10.
Not their best album, for sure, but still very good. Best song of this album, though. Even better live.
You can put "Love over Gold" on that list, too.
'Private Investigations' was what got me hooked
Listen to the live performances on "Alchemy" and it might be clearer. Mark Knopfler is a freak on the guitar. I can't listen to this CD and not be left shaking my head, asking "how does he do that?" It really comes across to me in his live performances.

really, there is some great music on their albums.
(much stronger, imo, than "hotel california," which you gave a "10.")

Let 'er rip Mark.
If you can listen to "Brothers in Arms" (the title cut of the CD by the same name) or "Telegraph Road" and not be moved, I'd be surprised.

I've listened to this track many times but this is the first time I've heard it.
Strangely I just had the exact same experience. Never really appreciated this song before today, but for some reason it just hit me! 9

I wasn't a big fan until the above albums came along. Now Knopfler's quitar stops me in my tracks.
I love "Planet of New Orleans" from this CD. Wish someone more tech savvy than me would upload it.

Tireless, timeless, swimming in subtlety and spacious joy.
