I feel safe, I feel warm
When you're here, when I do no wrong
I'm cured, when I'm by your side
I'm alright
I'm alright

I am safe when I am with you
I feel warm if you want me to
I'm cured, when I'm by your side
I'm alright

Careful where you stand my love
Careful where you lay your head
It's true
We're always looking out for one another

I feel safe when I am with you
I feel warm when you want me to
I am cured, when you are around
I'm alright

Careful where you stand my love
Careful where you lay your head
It's true
We're always looking out for one another

So I'd like a quiet time please
Yeah I'd like quiet time

Careful where you stand
Now careful where you stand

Their first album stands out as more ambient and moody than the later two, for which the band is better known in the US. Nice tunes to lay back and drift away while listening to.
It left this reviewer cold

these comments are wonderful, thanks!

blah blah blah...something about your soul...blah blah blah...something about negativity...blah blah blah...something about "throwing you a pearl"...etc. Yammer, rinse, repeat. We're all of us hypocrites. Even me, even you.
Aweful !

Simply boring
You may be right, but it's got its place as a lazy Sunday morning song...fades into tha background as I do the sudoku.
Simply boring
don't be so cruel with this early early coldplay's production men... they were young, and not yet rockstars...few after this they found the coolest sound
Oh. Hmm. I'd like this song MUCH better if those guitars hadn't taken their sweet time and went to get a cup of coffee before showing up. Grr. And now they're gone again.
I'm jabbing a steak knife into my speakers UGH!
If this wasn't Coldplay it would be seen as brutal. As it is, it's worse. Maybe it's significant

my dog is howling
I love Coldplay but this song truly isn't very good.

Success? Ripping off DM?? Nah, that's not possible.
I normally am a fan of Coldplay, but this song just puts me to sleep.
Sounds like a one off improv during a recording session. As evidenced by the second guitars not coming in until the last minute or so.
Modern times need sincere, personal, heartfelt naivety for sure. For some reason, I can find it from Colplay lyrics. More often than usually. But i am weak, for sure
To much Coldplay all over, at this time!

Dave Matthews band sure beats the crap out of this And just for the record, I'm no D.M. fan.
MUTEplay
I usually like Coldplay but...
Wow...that is one crazy distribution of ratings...the most even I've seen (not that I've been looking).
It's COOL to not like things that are popular, don't you know? Isn't that why it became known as "alternative" music? Of course, there is no such thing today.

ditto....first CD was really interesting, new and different. Now, I'm just bored, and irritated by his whiny vocals...

My nominee for the most aptly named band around. Their playing leaves me cold. I won't even mention the voice. This is a lead singer? Please.
...so many comments here are negative but I disagree with all of them...early Coldplay is amazingly great..Thanks for playing this song!

I dont care...I effin' love Coldplay. I saw them at Madison Square Garden in September - - an amazing show..
Don't you hate it that many RP listeners almost make you feel wrong for liking Coldplay. I like Coldplay, I love listening to them, I enjoy their concerts, I can't wait until their next album..... HA! Coldplay fans UNITE!
Glad to see that there are others who find Coldplay insufferable. I never got these guys. The sensitive melodic thoughtful thing is lost on me. All their music has the same feel...pure boredom. Plus it seems like every song they write has that "clocks" drum beat. This song doesn't but it might help since I'm falling asleep writing this as I'm listening. Please, limit the Coldplay.

COLDPLAY?????? NOT AGAIN!!!!!!Please Stop it!!!!
good song!!!
This is the old coldplay, i must say i prefer it over their new cd, x&Y is not this, and it is not good
boo on this shite

This guy's singing is atrocious. This Coldplay rubbish is fast heading for the 'Sucko-Barfo' bin even though its not a label I use lightly....
It is all or nothing with ColdPlay. I am all in I have to say. When I hear this I don't hear what was it "sucko-barfo" I hear more what I'd want to sound like if I were married to Gwyneth.
I have never gone from loving a band to not being able to stand them as I have with CP. Formulaic, montonous, boring, tedious.

Now this is the Coldplay that I love!
Bo ring zzz.
In the Olympics I hear they are proposing a new competition - that of Best Whiner but they decided not to conduct the competition as: The crap from Coldplay would win year after year after year. Sheesh.

To me it is boring.....just a 'filler'...saying nothing.... Can I give it a '4' please?..sorry!...just have!
I have to agree. I can hear the talent in this band, but like much of REM's music it leaves me flat. Except that REM did come out with some music that really rocked, too bad they didn't make more of it.
8) There's a bunch of pre-Parachutes songs from EPs... see here
Again a superb song. The atmosphere they create with their songs is so fine, it makes me dream away. I love Chris Martin's voice and his way of singing!

No album. Comes off of an EP or single, I believe.

I am becoming such a huge fan of coldplays music. this one helps if very much.
Considering myself, I guess that Coldplay will be one of the few bands or artists that I can return to again and again. Even in ten or twenty years I would probably include this album if I pick ten records for a long session in the car.

Well to me it certainly DOES, particularly the vocal grasping for the elusive high notes. He hits them, and with far more success than DM. If more DM songs sounded like this, I might like more of them.
DMB sounds like Hootie and the Blowfish.... no comparison to Coldplay.

I thought this was Dave Mathews until I checked the title. Wow this song is great.
I agree that this song is great, and I'm also a Dave Matthews fan, but when I heard this I couldn't fail to immediately recognize Chris Martin's voice. Great vocal stylist. Generally don't care for quite so much falsetto but his is light and subtle and this is a very good example.

This does NOT sound like Dave Matthews. I can't say this is Coldplay at their best, but that doesn't mean they should be compared with DMB. Yuck.

Can't really see the DMB analogy. I thought they sounded a LOT like the band James. Whatever happened to them anyway?
They also sound a lot like the most melodic Radiohead... Has anybody noticed that they always sound like somebody good? Does that mean they are good too or that they have no talent? Hmmm... that makes you wonder... :-k

I love it. and once again, much an many thanks to Bill & Rebecca for playing a truly obscure tune from a great artist. :)
Thanks for playing Coldplay!! :-)
This isn\'t from Parachutes, but rather from the Shiver EP - according to the discography on the coldplay site.

Interesting (or not), Leslie...I just heard this for the first time and thought, "Now here's a DMB song i like..."
