Come from way above
To bring me love (to bring me love)
Her eyes... she's on the dark side...
Neutralise... (every man inside) Every man inside...
Love you, love you, love you, love you,
Love you, love you, love you, love you,
Love you, love you, love you, love you...
You... are my angel
Come from way above
Love you, love you, love you, love you,
Love you, love you, love you, love you,
Love you, love you, love you, love you...
This one is unlike anything else out there. Truly one of a very good kind!
Us squeamish Dr. Who fans will just skip the slide show thank you.
Don't b....
I first heard Massive Attack's "Just Be Thankful..." and was impressed. Original version by Curtis Mayfield? I'd look it up but try to rely on memory some days...
William DeVaughn did the original version of
"just be thankful"
It's not just that, although, yes that was brilliant.
The masterful part, with all credit to Bill, is how PF found a niche by creating happy music juxtaposed with depressing lyrics.
Angel is the opposite of that.
These lyrics may be darker than they appear, especially in the context of the album.
I would suggest the "love" being sung about is not a true love, but rather an unhealthy obsession.
Compare this to Floyd, folks!
Middle Ages vs. 2020!
You're suggesting people were more interesting in the Middle Ages?
(not my picture but) I wanna go back in time and see them in concert again!
It is a great album in lots of ways, but from a purely technical standpoint (recording/mixing/mastering), it is solidly among the greatest of all time.
10 points for the fade from Pink Floyd.

That is the best idea I've seen in a long time.
I can listen it for days. Cheers from Italy ;-)
Clubbing to Trip Hop sounds,
Massive Attack, Portishead et al
its not just music, its a frame of mind, you got it or not.
LMFAO4R!
You keep dreaming.

With a rating of 8 from the RP audience I seriously doubt it. I, for one, would like to have it kept in the rotation. Crank it up!
Nope

at all
This whole LP's great, in fact. One of my favourite LPs from the era which pairs up really well with Rhythm and Stealth by Leftfield (another quality 98/99 era release).
I remember how Dissolved Girl (also from this LP) was only audible on Neo's cans in The Matrix but its placement in the scene and plot was perfect. Props to the music super for that treatment.
Ditto.

100% agreed! I've been rather lucky lately with getting the Massive Attack tracks to play while I'm driving to/fro work, while enjoying through my aftermarket truck stereo. It's not the stereo I had in my college years, although I am amazed at the efficiency of the new all digital amps, I do miss the feeling of the "old" amps (I was running a Phoenix Gold Route 66 which POUNDED my ported sub box) - and I wish I knew of this group back in the day....that's really what I came to comment is how surprised I am by the rather high ratings for Massive Attack tracks....maybe most of us RPsters do have great sound systems and/or headphones.
Long Live RP (and sorry for my rambling posts....esp. since I'm "at work" so I have to switch back and forth from typing my comment and what I get paid for ;-))
Ah eloquence! Great tune
I still remember, just as it does now, the shivers it gives through my entire body - such is the effect of this quite magnificent track.
There's never anything wrong with that.
Regards from the Bristol office this rainy Tuesday. Thanks RP.
I've heard that was quite a cool music scene in Bristol back in the '90s, with bands like the two you mentioned.
yes, I am with you!
...nice transition as well... ;-)

You folks have some peculiar word usage up there. In parts of he Southeast US, that type of headgear is called called "toboggans", which is even more strange.
Not peculiar at all to me. In upstate NY we always called them toques (tukes) as well. Maybe some Canadian influence I suppose.
Wool ski caps?!
They're called toques, you hoser!!
(Pronounced "tukes" by the way. Now have a beer, eh?)

What a menacing piece of poetry.
What's next, The Heavy?
Loving your choices Bill.
all until I seen them in Byblos (Lebanon), this song just left me breathless right there where between the sea and 8000 years old stone walls the 'Angel' was just echoing ....Still feels surreal....

True, but it didn't precede the ubiquitous wool ski caps.
One of the most powerful live experiences I have ever had.
I had to kind of lean towards the stage to fight the pure preassure pumping out.
Ditto. Was it the Heligoland tour?
Inertia Creeps and Teardrop (with the amazing Martina Topley-Bird on vocals) were my favorites of the night. But really, the whole dang show pulverized me!
Middle Ages vs. 2020!
You got that right
Middle Ages vs. 2020!
Your taste i. music is impeckerable...
Agreed, that's why I had to buy it.

Again a hello from us Bristol folks. Hope this finds you well. Thanks Mr & Mrs G for such a great station and for keeping us on your map.
Just turned up the subwoofer and it is getting a workout.
Sensurround 8.1 earthquake happening here!
Also used on the TV show La Femme Nikita with Peta Wilson.
Also used in "Snatch" when they torch the caravan. Brilliant
