I keep listening, very quietly.
You're discussing, your philosophy.
There's a long list, of what's wrong with me.
And you go on talking endlessly.... now.
What's the problem?
What's the question?
What's the answer?
Where's this heading?
You keep talking.
Where's it going?
If there's an answer I don't know it...
Please,
You're killing me.
Please,
You're killing me with all these questions.
I've been trying to get along with you.
Doesn't matter what I try to do.
Once you start in
There's no stopping you... now.
What's the problem?
What's the question?
What's the answer?
Where's this heading?
You keep talking.

If there's an answer I don't know it...
Please,

You're explaining, very patiently.
I'm a problem, what to do with me.
I keep listening, but i just don't see now.

Chris Isaak used to live in the Silverlake neighborhood of L.A. My friend once saw him lounging, shirtless, on his sofa. For years I peeked in the window every time I walked by his house, but alas, never saw him.
Great album! Saw him live at the Paramount Theatre in Denver for this tour. Top 5 concert for me.

ooo i can see that. me too.
Isaak was an amateur boxer and had his nose broken seven times! He told Discussions Magazine that his boxing pals had an affectionate nickname for him: "Because when I started off, I thought I looked a little like Elvis when I combed my hair back. When I was boxing, everybody who was on my boxing team, their nickname for me was Elvis."
This is for you Raquel.😘
First time I've heard this. Like.
This guy has one of the best voices around though.

This song is 100% about my first wife. And several girlfriends thereafter.

Look! A rotary dial phone.
No shade on Wicked Game, but I’ve always thought this was his best song.
Chris being his absolute cool self here. Damn good songwriting, great lyrics and strong music. And a topic that at one time most of us can 100% relate to.....

I was an ISAAC's fan,
saw him three times live (in Cologne).
Each time he was great - no question!
But what has he turned into...?
Into somebody, who's music is hardly recognizable against the real Chris!
Not on this song, though!
He was still "himself" 10 years ago, when this good album was issued!
Nowadays...?
A sad copy of himself!

Chris at his best. I remember an interview he gave to Q magazine (I think)
Music Journo: "So what have you been up to since the last album"
Mr Isaak: "Humm... well.... I built a patio"

My favorite Chris Isaak song, for sure.
I don't normally like Chris Isaac's sometimes creepy stuff. This is the first time my head turned to the screen to find out who was singing this good stuff..
Was surprised to find it was him.
Not bad.

Yeah, ya gotta see him in concert with his band. They are tight and cool and always seem to be having fun!
I like his style and his smooth delivery.
Huge, huge fan of his, he is awesome (overused word but true in this case). He is like the love child of Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley with a little something else that's special thrown in. Oh, and he is entertaining too.

Forever Blue is another great album of his. "Baby did a bad bad thing..."

Cat Stevens was on the "no fly" list and still came over.I'm not saying he should have been on the list(he shouldn't)but our security sucks.Just like the Christmas scare we just had!

When this first came on I thought it was an acoustic version of Nirvana's Heart-Shaped Box. The opening riff is virtually identical. Not a bad song, but I wouldn't say its his best.

Thank you RP for regular Isaak! A great performer with an extremely pleasant voice.
Saw him live after this album...brilliant. It was in Townsville. He came out at the start in a discoball dinner suit and announced that in the big cities New York, Paris, ....Townsville everyone really wants to hear all the classics so thats what you're gonna get. Great performer, very funny guy, and loads of cool music.
His big hit was Wicked Game, but I always thought this was his best song.

I think you need to come in outta the cold. Or maybe your stuck inside and need some fresh air. Either way, the guy's got great hair. We should all be so lucky to be as good looking as Chris or have as many women lusting after him. And he's a damn good singer/songwriter as well. I've always liked him but never got the exposure until I visited Paradise.
That's Radio Paradise to you, Bub.

His hair and music are better than yours.
This is good, but I think his earlier work rocks more.
I just saw him in Vegas, awesome concert.
Cool, has Devo's "Incredible Urge" beginning. Which fits right in to a lot of Chris's songs.
My favorite rockin' Chris Isaak song. He is awesome and I loved his Showtime show. Star, hunk, regular guy. The best.

My all-time fave Chris Isaak song. It rocks, but the lyrics are great. I can just see a browbeat guy sitting there with his head in his hands as his wife/girlfriend hectors him over this or that.
locutusofborg wrote:

I suppose you're right, he has only really had one big hit with Wicked Game. So what? Is that really how you rate an artist's talent, by how many "hits" he/she's had? C'mon, you know better than that.
I obviously don't put Isaak in the same category of greatness as say Van Morrison, Dylan, Cohen, etc., mostly because his style is rather one-dimensional. That said, however, you'd be hard-pressed to find a more consistent songwriter than Chris Isaak. I challenge you to go through each of his albums, song by song, and find more than 2 or 3 "duds" in the entire catalogue. Every song is good, every album, time and time again, it's amazing. The guy's a machine. I don't know how he does it. If you don't believe me go see for yourself.
Love this tune. It actually gives you a good idea of how well Chris and co. can rock out. You have to listen to this song LOUD to really appreciate it. Preferably w/ good headphones or in a car with a good sound system. Same with Walk Slow, which if I'm not mistaken follows this track on the album.
Pleasant enough, don't mind hearing it, but not what I'd call stunning by any measure.

Probably. But Chris Isaak did have an album called "Heart-Shaped World."
Excellent!
What an entertainer. Go see him live! A really funny guy, considering the melancholy in his songs.

this is the first time I've heard Chris Isaak on RP. Good choice. And good fit for the station.
I saw Chris in a small club in D.C. circa 1988, just before he got big. It was one of the best live shows I've ever seen. He just exuded power, energy and emotion. I've been a huge fan ever since.
Chris is awesome!
This is a perfect example of how great Chris Isaak is. I have all him CDs, and this one is probably the best.

But Brian Johnson's voice (which one critic said sounds like "an automatic fart machine") wouldn't be, you know, as smooth a contrast.
He gets major points for staring in John Water's "A Dirty Shame" along side Tracy Ulman - what a cool guy!
Man, he just sings to my heart...
Please, you're killing me, no more Chris Isaak.

What does only having one hit have to do with the music. I'll tell you, "absolutely nothing". There are many great musicians (not saying chris isaak is a great musician) who never had a "hit" (as you call it). What constitutes a hit? Is it getting your name on a billboard chart or getting airplay?
Please No!
Perfect....oh yeah!
