Soulful singing, smooth groove, a little brass, undertone guitar, Hammond organ sound, tasty drums - a lot of good going on in this song!
smooth
Love this udated jazzier version of his original Was Not Was recording!
Nice! I've always been impressed by Don's work over the years, and this is a good one! I LOVE the album title... Grooving in the face of adversity is definitely a thing for me, and it's always played well in this town!
Don Was, the 6x GRAMMY® Award-winning musician, producer and composer, pays tribute to his hometown of Detroit with his new band, Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble, and their debut album Groove In The Face of Adversity. The band includes long-time collaborators like saxophonist Dave McMurray, keyboardist Luis Resto, trombonist Vincent Chandler, trumpeter John Douglas, drummer Jeff Canady, percussionist Mahindi Masai, guitarist Wayne Gerard and vocalist Steffanie Christi’an.

Delightful!
