Nice weird little tune from Patty. Kind of a Neko Case meets Robert Plant vibe.

I don't normally like Patty Griffin but this is really very good.
I love this song--and version--but every time I hear it, I hear that repeating tone in the second verse that reminds me of a UPS truck backing up.
I love it! It has such a haunting feel to it.

Several commenters refer to this version having less emotional punch (that is, anger) than the original version. I don't hear that. The sound is much clearer, but the vocals are the same. She is slightly flat in the same place, which surely does not indicate a re-recording. This mix may be different, but how would that affect the emotional impact? I think this version is an improvement.
That guitar break in the middle is gorgeous!

Have to agree that the earlier version had much more mood to it, but love this tune. Patty sure is a Chameleon. The industry always to put artists into a box, but the truth is that most artists want to constantly explore new sounds...and so they should.
It's one of those fem vocal-lyric-mood combination that lures me away from the work I have at hand… part of the risk/reward of listening to RP, it seems.
this is an RP favorite and for a long time I wondered why. the more I listened, the more I agreed, this is a great song. Patty brings more meaning to her lyrics by droning and grating her voice to paint a sureal picture of life. 8.27

Very cool tune, great guitar work.
Nice and edgy, which is a welcome change from the usual female singer/songwriters that RP plays so much of. I am done with soft lament songs by indie women who have been through bad breakups. This is how you can rock a slow tune.

Why this remix? There was nothing wrong with the original.
Agree with the other comments, this is lacking the rawness of the original. Not sure which I like better.
