Here’s a metaphor stretch: Bermuda is world famous for onions (locals even call themselves’ onions’). Onions = Tears Therefore, Bermuda Highway could refer to a Highway of tears. Obscure, yes, but I’ve read worse.

I don't think Jimmy James is singing about the island of Bermuda. Along with no highways, I'd bet it doesn't have any carpet mills* either. I think the setting of the song is the band's home state of Missouri. 

My interpretation is he's heartbroken over his girlfriend dumping him for another guy to the point he's completely fallen apart. He's missing the sex too and he's equating that to another favorite thing he likes to do that he's not doing anymore, driving fast. (He's walking around town.)

So, the analogy is a car driving hard and fast down a long, straight, lonely, country road between fields of Red or, Bermuda, onions. The "ass" lyric then makes perfect sense.

One of my favorite bands.

* "Carpet Mill" could be an incredibly funny term for a bikini waxing business. Which would put the "takin' stills" lyric in a different, and kinda' creepy, context so Jimmy's probably singing about actual textile factories.

Yep, this is one of those times when I am for shure against the big market USA which forces artists to sing in English.   I predict RP will change that.   As I have stated here a few times, I am one who champions poetry, but the elements of music most important to me are not lyrical.

I took my wife and kids to the Americanarama show at Shoreline in August.  I would have stayed till the bitter end, but everyone was ready to head out after 3 or 4 Dylan songs, so you made it longer that we did;)  Seeing Bob Weir sing with Wilco and MMJ definitely made it worth the effort!

My Morning Jacket seems to have a great deal of intense joy in their music - even when the song is sad.  I think that's one of the things I like best about them.

I seem to be very into the music today - perhaps because I wrenched my back and have been off work for a couple of days, so with not much to obligate me, I'm listening with both ears. {#Roflol} Lots of good stuff being played, and I'm actually rating songs!  Funny, though - I have a bunch of 7-10 ratings, but the songs I don't particularly care for, I'm not bothering to rate.

This one's getting a pretty high rating - I LOVE My Morning Jacket.  (And I love the group, too.) {#Sunny}
