Don't look ahead, there's stormy weather
Another roadblock in our way
But if we go, we go together
Our hands are tied here if we stay
Oh, we said our dreams will carry us
And if they don't fly we will run
Now we push right past to find out
Oh, how to win what they all lost
Oh ah, oh ah
We know now we want more
Oh ah, oh ah
A life worth fighting for
Oh ah, oh ah
We know that we want more
Oh ah, oh ah
A life worth fighting for
So let them say we can't do better
Lay out the rules that we can't break
They wanna sit and watch it wither
Their legacy's too hard to take
Oh, we said our dreams will carry us
And if they don't fly we will run
Now we push right past to find out
Oh, how to win what they all lost
Oh ah, oh ah
We know now we want more
Oh ah, oh ah
A life worth fighting for
Oh ah, oh ah
We know that we want more
Oh ah, oh ah
A life worth fighting for
In their heads, hedging their bets
In their eyes it shows
When the beacon breaks, what then?
You ask and they don't know
Oh tell me that
I turn my back well the odds all stand beneath me
And they all said I was misled
But now the odds all stand beneath me
Oh ah, oh ah
They're frozen to the core
Oh ah, oh ah
A life worth fighting for
Oh, we said our dreams will carry us
And if they don't fly we will run
Now we push right past to find out
Oh, how to win what they all lost
Oh ah, oh ah
We know now we want more
Oh ah, oh ah
A life worth fighting for
Oh ah, oh ah
We know that we want more
Oh ah, oh ah
A life worth fighting for
We hear them run, but don't hear what you say
Now here we come, can't throw nothing in our way

Anyone recognize the intro from the Marketplace Morning Report on NPR? David Brancaccio must be a Santigold fan too. Mo respect.

I think we're seeing a shift in the Radio Paradise format this summer to include more of today's hits. Looks like Bill is doing a good job curating the songs while keeping a lot of the old favorites.
But this song by Santigold came out in 2012. Not a hit "today" I still love it. My oldest son turned me on to her in 2008. When I heard L.E.S. Artistes, I was hooked. And I am now still listening to her and I will be 66 in April 2024.

Listening to the intro music, I thought of Arcade Fire.
Reminds me of "Making Plans for Nigel" by XTC. I like that one, too.

I'm sure that this song has been played on RP much longer than you may realize. It was released back in 2012 and I'm sure that I heard it way back. ...but then again, my memory is suspect.
RP's really knocking it out of the park with the new additions this last couple weeks.

Heh... yeah, no doubt. BTW -- Iggy just released a NEW ALBUM that freakin' rocks!
seems like they took most of their "inspiration" for this song from Punkrocker by the Teddybears...

That doesn't change the fact that it is new to RP in 2022.
Nobody said anything about it being new or not on RP. The release date listed was just incorrect.

Cool song
How is this from 2012? I would have guessed this is a newer release as it sounds more polished and more topical for the 2020s.

Sort of a Silversun Pickups vibe.

This a really solid song,
BUT
this style of drum track is definitely gonna be this generation's gated reverb snare
