But I know just what you runnin' from:
And what matters ain't the "who's baddest" but
The ones who stop you fallin' from your ladder, baby
And you feel like you feelin' now
And doin' things just to please your crowd,
When I love you like the way I love you,
And I suffer, but I ain't gonna cut you 'cause
This ain't no place for no hero.
This ain't no place for no better man.
This ain't no place for no hero
To call "home."
This ain't no place for no hero.
This ain't no place for no better man.
This ain't no place for no hero
To call "home."
Every time I close my eyes, I think,
I think about you inside,
And your mother, givin' up on askin' why -
Why you lie, and you cheat, and you try to make
A fool outta she...
I can't see where you comin' from,
But I know just what you're runnin' from.
And what matters ain't the "who's baddest," but the
Ones who stop you fallin' from your ladder, 'cause
This ain't no place for no hero.
This ain't no place for no better man.

LOL I heard this in the movie Tommy Boy and didnt realize it was a real song. Chris Farley was signing it.
This song is from 12 years after Chris died.
This replaces Superfly as my Street Walking Soundtrack.
You mean you gave up Stayin' Alive??

damn, gets better every time. 9.
The Drive By Truckers were asked back by Dave to play the same song again. Everybody needs Love.
lol your right
Wow! I almost forgot what Popeye sounded like until you mentioned it
"Homes fit for 'heroes' Towards the end of the war, Prime Minister David Lloyd George promised that returning soldiers would have 'homes fit for heroes'. This meant more than just a good quality house; it meant that Britain would provide a higher standard of living for all"
.
And there'll be blue birds (not even native to these shores),
and jam tomorrow boys
just you wait and see.
.
But look at it now...
"oh, what happened to,
my greeee-eeen,
and pleasant land?"
I like it, just do not like the use of the TGB&TU theme in the intro.
There is a paramilitary/spy series out in the interwebs called Strike Back that used this as the theme song. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...(TV_series) It was actually a fun watch (the American character was an Aussie and the British character was American... and they were def eye candy)
sounds like Popeye after a bender at port.

How You Like Me Now? (The Heavy song)
[I did a random check of the existing comments and found no mention of it.]
I thought c lo green and had to see who was in the band.
"This ain't no place for no hero" = double negative = this IS a place for a hero?
Isn't it a triple negative?
i need to win a few million dollars so i can make a movie with this song in the title track.
A worthy ambition.
Gnarls Barkley in chaps with fringe
I can't stop thinking of Donny Hathaway.
A little Moby, a little Urge Overkill, and Gnarls Barkley

Well, double negatives like that are common in conversational, less “educated,” English and have been used countless times in popular music lyrics, and successfully, such as in Sheryl Crow’s “All I Wanna Do”: “This ain’t no disco...” and of course the word “wanna” is not “proper” English either. This is not an issue for me, and not surprising. What is surprising though, is there was no mention in these comments of the fact that the opening melody is a variation of, but very similar to, the main tune of “House of the Rising Sun,” which is a really old song and now in the public domain, so there’s no worry about copyright infringement.

For a VERY long time, I thought it was them ...

To me, this song has always felt like an instant classic, timeless, something that has always been there!
And now, with all of you talking about it, I want to play that game that has THIS as a theme
YES.
Apparently that intro crunching sound is band member Dan walking on cat litter. My amateur acoustic analysis suggests the litter box had not been used prior to recording....
Agreed, we'd probably hear some choice swearing and spongier sounds. Yuck!
Just as well he didn't walk on the cat :)
Sounds like shovelling dirt to me. With the earbuds in, might give you the feeling your ENT has gone berserk
And I do like the song too :-)

Just read the description and a couple of reviews. Violent revenge western... no thanks.

Borderlands 2 theme tune
Wonderful stuff
This is first time I have heard the entire song though. Thanks for having it in the playlist.
I love the way they used it. So cool!
This actually happened twice for them. The only band ever.
Yep, which is a great show if you have to ride your bike trainer or use a treadmill in the winter or bad weather. It's got all the necessary ingredients for mindless activity: gunfire, explosions, and nudity (including male nudity which my partner appreciates - equal nudity for all!)
Strike Back Redemption (the TV show) is all that plus you get to watch smart tough women kick ass.

Ditto!
I was thinking something similar (Sergio Leonne spaghetti western) but like either...a very cool song.
The Cure too does this well.
(I like three letter words. My new nickname is quite long, verbration doesn't counts as valid name at least)
Well according to Bill's statistics for this song:
Last play: Aug 14, 2015
Plays in last 30 days: 3
3 times in the last 30 days does not constitute overplayed in my book. Hit the PSD button and move on.
Always think of Curtis when I hear him.
Goddamn! that's a good set!
Even Bill's worst is a Good Set. This is a damned good set.
Goddamn! that's a good set!
It was unsatisfying.
It was lucrative.
The song is great.
But more heroic than it pretends to.
I don't know them, but boy do I like this song! Very atmospheric and a classic in its genre.
My ears have no boundaries my friend.....but that little island over there has put out a shit load of god music since the 60's
... overlaid with a spaghetti western?
Thank you for you service to our country and our freedom.
My comment is in reference to the people of this country, not its leaders, lobbyists, or those who profit (financially, politically or in any other way) from wars. I guess I am something of an idealist. I cannot (perhaps, will not) believe that people, as a whole, would celebrate any facet of "man's inhumanity to man". I agree with you. American (or any other) chauvinists are not sensitive. I just hope we are not all chauvinistic in attitude or action. None of this has anything to do with your attitude, only my hopes. Peace Brother.
Peace right back atchya, brother. Peace. It's what I want for Christmas. It's really the only thing I want for Christmas. (Come on, Santa; I KNOW you're listening.)
Apologies for the previous rant. Must have been a bad day.

Not particularly proud of that tradition, despite being a US Navy submarine vet. And if you haven't done time in the military, don't even consider commenting about my attitude. It's a free country; I contributed to that freedom and you haven't.

Edit: I absolutely love the this song. Musically and Lyrically very deep and textured.

Come to think of it, it is really shameful how many Americans enjoy having ground their boot heels into native Americans.
I'm curious. How many Americans do you believe are "proud" of having ground their heels into the native Americans? Please be careful with the wide nets. If you are in Canada, the USA or Mexico, you also, are a North American my friend. And perhaps not the only one with a conscience.
