Well, I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand
Yeah
Well, I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand
Well, I pick up all the pieces and make an Island
Might even raise a little sand
Yeah

Cause I'm a voodoo child
Lord knows I'm a voodoo child baby

You better listen when I say

I didn't mean to take up all your sweet time
I'll give it right back to ya one of these days
Ha ha ha

I said I didn't mean to take up all your sweet time
I'll give it right back one of these days
Oh yeah

If I don't meet you no more in this world then uh
I'll meet ya on the next one
And don't be late
Don't be late

Cause I'm a voodoo child voodoo child
Lord knows I'm a voodoo child
Hey hey hey

I'm a voodoo child baby

I don't take no for an answer

Question no

Wrong strategy for your 2050 announcement, if you let follow THIS!

If you're ever in Seattle, do yourself a favor and go see Paul Allen's gift to the world, The Experience Music Project. They've got a Hendrix exhibit there that is unbelievable.

It's funny how the electric guitar has been around for the 42 years since Hendrix died, and about that long before. There is not now, never has been, and never will be his equal. Here's to the best axe man who ever lived. {#Cowboy}

"It's funny how the electric guitar has been around for the 42 years since Hendrix died ..."

What's pretty nuts is that the solid-body electric guitar had only been around for a couple decades at best when Hendrix took hold of it. There were few stomp boxes at the time, a Wah Wah, and the amp. The tones he got, folks still strive for such a sound.
This is so damn good.
I saw him play this at the Albert Hall in 1969. One of the highlights of my life.

Permanent 10.

You go in at the beginning of this song...but come out differently at the end.

OK! ...I'll go for the "raw vibe"!!!  Both are great!
THE definition of GODLIKE
Back there when I was in Engineering School, it was put forth by an elder in charge of tunes at a party, "You can't really appreciate Jimi Hendrix -- he's a little before your tIme..." I said, "Chuh! That's a bunch a BULLSHIT!" I myself became the regular Party DJ after that... Jimi has always spoken his magic spells from another world to me, and I've always liked to go there with him. I still do. He's the best. Amen.
One word: A-W-E
This guy was born Nov 27, 1942.  Today, at this writing, it's June 7, 2021.  Can you imagine?  If he'd lived he'd be.....79 years old.

Probably just as well he didn't, because nobody sustains this sort of energy for long.  Not nobody.  It's a direct link to divine inspiration, and such linkages burn the mortal coil thru like a short circuit on a low amperage fuse.   PFFFFFT and you are gone, baby gone.

But oh the brilliance while the arc lasts, eh?  Such blinding brilliance that ripples out for so long as such mediums as Radio Paradise, the 'Net, and the enjoyment of pure rock-n-roll exists.

And so it goes for all of us still around on this planet, not yet ready to move on to the next.

Remakes are remakes, always.
1969 Philadelphia Spectrum - this song. Whoa.
So when orange sunshine came along this was the music.

A blazing hot 10.
E-gads! I hated this back then. It took years to realize Jimi wasn't so bad,  his groupies to follow were awful.  Even liked him after Belly Button Window came out.
I still prefer Stevie Ray's version for a cleaner sound, but this one is simply the best for its raw vibe.
One of the few tracks on RP for which virtually any rating is too low.  This one for me just about triggered a non-drug out-of-body and no-boundary experience.

PSD and I land here!.. Great rendition, but an even better one is on the hard-to-find record Hendrix in the West.
Even today, many years from the first time I heard this "song", I feel the same strangeness the sitted guy holding that thing at the bottom of the picture, seems to.
And every time, it sounds better !

The famous lithograph from Escher
Just...wow. Maybe a little OTT but so damned what. This must have gone off like a bomb in the world of professional rock guitarists when it came out.

Fled from Interpol's "Rest My Chemistry" to this via PSD--from worst to first.

Come to think of it, I didn't know that e=fþ. But I see your point. It really is a shame. I may be slow but I eventually know sarcasm when I see it.

Andy Rooney of 60 Minutes fame, an amateur guitarist, said he heard Jimi play, I believe, at Altamonte.  And he said Jimi could play better with his toes than Andy could ever play on his best day.  Ah, Andy is good at other things.

Wonder where he would have gone with his music had he lived to a ripe old age of 50.

Everybody has a right to there opinion - why should we ever assume that someone else hears the meaning we do (or doesn't hear what we do not)? I could care less what someone else thinks - if a song moves me to shake and scream like a madman or reduces me to naked emotion and stirs me as deeply as I can imagine anything ever would (as this song always does no matter how many times I hear it) - or both, I like it no less if someone else doesn't feel any of that. It doesn't change a thing for me. I'm going to react the very same way the next time I hear it.

The closest thing to distilled genius from a man recognised and revered by his musical peers for his transformational impact on the future direction of rock music.
You can hear where Jimmie Ray got it from...  {#Bananajam}

Perfection. I rarely resort to negativity on RP, but whoever voted Sucko Barfo above is on crack. There are a few artists who just seemed to land on this earth out of nowhere and capture the world. Hendrix was one of them. Like a nuclear freight train with no brakes...

Nope, 59% of RP listeners give it a 10.  I have noticed women tend to not like Hendrix as much as men for some reason.

This tune changed the world of Rock Guitar.

Seeeeearing guitar work.
Being an amateur athlete I'm always looking for music to amp up before a race. I've used a number of tunes over the years but this always returns to my playlist. It's not as hard-driving as, say, Fishbone's "Modern Industry" but it has an intensity that's hard to match.
... and Bill still has never played Hey Joe. What gives?!
Classis classic...
I love the mix of the different elements.  His voice and guitar swoop in and out, from left to right.  Great headphone song.

I think he was only 27 when he died.  Tragic.  He put out so much good music to that point and he would have continued to do so.  I always imagined him getting more into jazz and playing jazz well into his old age.
{#Bananajam}
Fantastic song!  Jimi was definitely a musical genius.  His music is timeless.

Some have one immortal song, others an album, still others have a span of time, and then there are the true immortals, the true one-offs who have a career and a legacy that continues unabated....Coltrane, Beatles, Davis, and Mr James Hendrix...we are the better, and more inspired for their efforts.

Just some dude who invented some early rock guitar techniques.  If he hadn't have died spectacularly and young, you'd never have heard of him at all.

Jimi isn't "God-Like". He IS God.

Maybe you just have to like inventive and powerful guitar playing. I've heard it a thousand times, but it never gets old. I'm inspired ... I think I'll go practice my lame ass acoustic cover which I doubt anybody likes but is SOOoooo fun to play.
