I know that many are big fans of The Doors, but I am not one of them.

Every time I hear one of their songs, I cannot help but think about how Jim Morrison let the people in his life down, and how inspired their music was, but it's a reminder of how self destructive behavior and disrespecting others can lead down a very dark and deadly road.  I cannot celebrate self destructiveness and extreme selfishness, and it ruins the music for me.

It reminds me of all of the great music and people lost during that time to drugs and alcohol and self destructive living.  I feel sorry for the surviving members of The Doors who were let down by Morrison.

Morrison was.  He strut upon the world's stage and was gone.  That his inner demons took him from us all is nothing more than a tragedy. Period.

The fantastic music remains and is loved by millions worldwide in spite of anyone's self moralization and virtue signalling.
THE DOORS ARE AWESOME

The little guy on the album cover died just last year.  I forget his name, but he played ALF on that stupid TV show, which name I also forgot.

This is the most tired comment on these boards.  That is what the button is for.  Just push it.  There's really no need to tell us about it.

For me, the Doors sound better and better as the years go on, pretty much any Doors.  Very grateful.

No-one had a corner on the Doors, as a member of the class of "67"
I watched the flower of Rock and Roll bloom and grow and bloom again
and again. The Doors are one of the many very talented corner-stones of
R & R . Be it Muddy, Buddy, Roy, or Jim they all had a hand in the formation
of a celebration of life and times through their very visceral music. Sad that many of the most
creative simply couldn't live with the demons in their head or the amount of dope
it took to quill their madness. Some people just never pulled the rip-cord.

+1 that. well put.
Wow, I haven't heard this in a doors age...
Ace song, always prefered the, 'Live at the Matrix' version though.

I was just sitting here grooving on a song I haven't heard in ages when I lost all connection to RP. Hmmm.

Well, I'll listen to the BBC for a while and then check back in a moment.

Since you KIDS were never in the time or place where the Doors were you will never know what they really said, just what you think they said. It is amazing what a WAR and time will do for a song and a group. They had alot to say, but it was for us I guess, not the rest of you. To bad, you missed out. I would love to have takin you out on a patrol and then see what you would say about the Doors and what some of the songs had to say. I was there, 1971, Quang Tri, Vietnam. Never mind what I really want to say, since you were not in the CLUB you wouldn't understand.Edited By hippie at 9:35 am on 5/28/2002

Especially when you think about all that time Morrison spent in 'nam. Every time he was home he thought he was gonna wake up back in the jungle. When he was home after his first tour, it was worse. He'd wake up and there'd be nothing. He hardly said a word to his wife, until he said "yes" to a divorce. When he was here, he wanted to be there; when he was there, all he could think of was getting back into the jungle ....

Apologies to Apocalypse Now.

For the record the Doors kick ass, but you don't have to get drafted to enjoy them.

I work in Manhattan and this morning I walked past where that cover was shot. No circus characters today.

Not my favorite track off this album, but still exciting to hear.

A classic track...one of my favorites from the Doors.
Hmmmm...over six years since this was last played.  Might have been a good idea to make it 7.

Uggh..HUM!!!!! (Clears throat).....You suck!

Hey Hippie, Instead of being so condescending to all us *KIDS*, how ‘bout educating us instead? What is it about the Doors music that is so important to you? What are they *really* saying? My dislike of the Doors has nothing to do with what I *think* they said. I just don't care for most of their music – independent of the lyrics. Maybe if I listened to the lyrics more closely, put in context of the time they were written, I would appreciate them more? Of course, I'll never be a member of the CLUB, but I'm willing to be enlightened...

The Doors SUCK!
Ok, I know I'll get some flame for this, but IMHO if Jim Morrison hadn't died, he wouldn't have been the over romanticized, larger than life, mislabeled as a poet character that he has become. No disrespect to the man but I think his death did more for him than his music ultimately ever would have. I wish he was still around so he could dispell the myths of his greatness!
Jim Morrison is a ham. nothing more, nothing less. Glaze his music with honey and serve it once a year.
Not enough Doors for me :) Man you are on fire today! Keep up the good work :)
