Clouds so swift
Rain won't lift
Gate won't close
Railings froze
Get your mind off wintertime
You ain't goin' nowhere
Whoo-ee! Ride me high
Tomorrow's the day
My bride's gonna come
Oh, oh, are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair!

I don't care
How many letters they sent
Morning came and morning went
Pick up your money
And pack up your tent
You ain't goin' nowhere
Whoo-ee! Ride me high
Tomorrow's the day
My bride's gonna come
Oh, oh, are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair!

Buy me a flute
And a gun that shoots
Tailgates and substitutes
Strap yourself
To the tree with roots
You ain't goin' nowhere
Whoo-ee! Ride me high
Tomorrow's the day
My bride's gonna come
Oh, oh, are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair!

Genghis Khan
He could not keep
All his kings
Supplied with sleep
We'll climb that hill no matter how steep
When we get up to it
Whoo-ee! Ride me high
Tomorrow's the day
My bride's gonna come
Oh, oh, are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair!

voice of an angel
1971, Ojo Sarco, New Mexico, sitting on a porch during a heavy rain, this song resounding through that moment into this memory.
Ah, what a great album, full of classics................

Whoo-ee!  likin hearing this.

Love this!

(But waiting tremulously for the inevitable comment about how Dylan has a terrible voice and should never be allowed near the microphone, or words to that effect. Wonder how many posts after this it will take...)

There are some covers that I like just as much or more but this is SWEET!

This playlist is simply fab-BOO-lous. Whichever one  of you wrote this one up, my headphones are humming with manna from music heaven! ^..^~

And today followed by the ineffably pretty "St. Petersburg." This is RP at its best. Thanks, Bill.

Tasteless to reply to my own post I suppose...but I just had a serious deja vu.
Another Dylan classic that is very origianl and catchy. Love this one.
Cracker and Counting Crows do a nice live version of this on Cracker's "Garage d' Or album.
Bob snag this song at a small concert in MN a year or so ago. We were twenty-five feet away in front of the stage. A really fun show! What a great little tune!

Just the thing to lift someone's spirits on a lonely day.

My 16-year-old daughter and I rode our bikes over to a little grassy knoll outside Stubbs' Barbeque where Bob was playing last week and joined a whole bunch of other people who couldn't get tickets. We all lay on the grass on blankets and listened to the songs floating over the little creek that runs behind the place and just enjoyed the tunes and wished we could see Bob, but glad to hear him. I said, ''Hey, this is what it would be like to be blind at a Bob Dylan concert,'' and she said, ''Better than being deaf at one, I guess.'' It was a most enjoyable evening, and didn't cost us a cent. We got back to my little pickup just as the guy was getting ready to tow it, so I tossed my bike in the back and he cut us some slack and lowered it back down and let us go. Good karma, I guess.
THAT is ... well, it's my pick for story of the day. Love, elle
After yesterday's discussion of Roger McGuinn/Tom Petty an early line in this song is pretty funny "..put up your tent McGuinn..."
Hell of a segue from Neko Case.

I also prefer the Byrds' take, but I appreciate this version as well. Pretty much anything from Sweetheart of the Rodeo is hard to beat in my book.
The Byrds... Yes!

My all time favorite Dylan song.
...i think tonight's set is exceeding my country/folk tolerance...

It's nice to hear Dylan actually singing for a change.

"...packup your money, pull up your tent McGuinn, you ain't goin' nowhere".

I'd forgetten this one. Nice to hear it again. Is this where the Band got the idea for Old Rockin' Chair on the Brown album, I wonder?
Hee HA! sing it Bobby we luv's ya!
Holy *&(T. I didn't know there was another person that found this song as one of the top of Dylan's songs. This is one of my favorites of Dylan's.

I wonder if our colleague who granted a 2 to Neko just now is the same one who gave this a 3. Maybe they could speak up and let us know what they want to hear. The rest of us seem to agree this is good stuff.
