Ain't but one way out baby, Lord I just can't go out the door.
Ain't but one way out baby, and Lord I just can't go out the door.
Cause there's a man down there, might be your man I don't know.

Lord you got me trapped woman, up on the second floor;
If I get by this time I won't be trapped no more.
So raise your window baby, and I can ease out soft and slow.
And lord, your neighbors, no they won't be
Talking that stuff that they don't know.

Lord, I'm foolish to be here in the first place,
I know some man gonna walk in and take my place.
Ain't no way in the world, I'm going out that front door
Cause there's a man down there, might be your man I don't know.
Cause there's a man down there, might be your man I don't know.
Cause there's a man down there,

Lord, it just might happen to be your man...
Lord, it just a might be your man,
Mmm-mm-mmm-mm...
Lord, it just a might be your man,
Oh baby, I just don't know..

Multiple solos and fills that are so evocative, I almost feel I'm hearing them in English.
GREAT TUNE!    I wouldn't go out that friggin' door too!

That is what the "skip button" is for.   ...problem solved!  Along with many other RP listeners, I think that this is a GREAT TUNE!

Saw them when I was about 16 at the Orange Bowl in Miami not long after this Album came out. Right before they took the stage they had a peach eating contest. I can't recall the other bands but there was a full day of them. And back then tickets were under $15. Good times.

Cool!  I wish that I could have been there too!

Rock'n night at the Jube it was

Saw them at the Tabernacle downtown during Gregg's last tour with the band.  His voice  gave out after three or four tunes and somebody else (?)  filled in for the next 45 mins.  Not a bad replacement, and I'm embarrassed I don't know who it was.

Looking forward to seeing Gregg, Duane, Berry, and whoever else they've got in the angelic lineup.  I'll be patient though; lots more to do and see on Earth.

Huh?  Could we hear an elaboration on your opinion? or just a simple answer as to why? I think we'd all appreciate ,and maybe learn something from that.

One of the greatest bands.  Anyone, any genre, any nation, anywhere, anytime.  Period. With Duane and post-Duane.  We'll never know just how smokin' hot they could have ever become.  But I'll grab what they were with all the senses that count.
Awesome song. The title means something different if you've recently watched "Star Wars: Andor," but it nonetheless describes a situation where people are trapped and need to escape.
Put your hands together ...
G-d Damn this is awesome!

I hope you dropped her before she got to band.
Hey, I was raised to worship Duane but gotdammit Dicky's solo steals the show!
ICONIC!

Me too as he could have been the man on the other side of the door.
A truly great song but may mean something different to another.

Pure Quality at its Finest.

Bill, please don't play Counting Crows or John Cougar after this.

One year out of college for me.

Been there once.  Except he was  that man, and I knew.
These guys are simply awesome. Whatever happened to music like this in rock?
10+

From the Wiki in the right panel:

"Group leader Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident later that year – on October 29, 1971, and the band dedicated Eat a Peach (1972) to his memory, a dual studio/live album that cemented the band's popularity and..."

Man!  What a classic!

Gregg, Butch, Berry, Duane ... all dead.  I suppose that's the absolute "One Way Out".

Can't believe this song is 47 years old. Still rocks.
EAT. A. PEACH. INDEED!
Shit kickin' toon
Can't listen to this too many times. Other southern rock can get a little tired on re-listens, but the Allman's have a timeless sound.
Killer
Need a new 1 - 10 for these guys. Simply among the greatest American music of whatever type or genre. Off the freaking meter.
The interplay between Duane and Dickey on this track is incredible.  It sounds fresh and crisp every time I hear it.  This is an amazing piece of music.  Thanks guys.

Update 2022; This classic is now half a century old!

Allman Bros Band at the Fillmore East is the best live recording of all time. Period. The energy given off could power NYC for 100 years.

Yeah I know this is a track on Eat a Peach but only 'cause the first pressing couldn't hold it all.
a set of stars in the firmament.....{#Notworthy}
This one sounds like the complete instrumental part is taken from LedZep's "Moby Dick" which was released three years earlier.
this is a total WAKE THE FUCK UP AND BOOGIE TUNE!!!  SHAZZAM!
One of those old songs that still makes me reach over and turn it up from the opening notes without even thinking about it. Greatness.

So nice after Greg's passing.

Man, there's enough energy generated by this track to power the planet.
44 years? Really?  I don't know if I should feel depressed I remember it in the day, or happy to be able to remember it.  At any rate, Thanks Bill.

To think Greg Allman was 23 and Duane 24 when this was recorded. The Fillmore was indeed a palace of musician royalty.

Duane and the boys were just so good.

Unfortunately, it's all we've got so let's just enjoy...

Wore out & had to buy multiple copies of all that plus of course the vinyl.  And everything from their first album through Brothers & Sisters.  Started a rock & roll band in 1972 - bass player - and the first song we attempted was Whipping Post. Lordy that was a badass bass line for a 19-year-old that had played bass for all of 2 months.
