I stare at myself in the mirror alone
It's hard to make friends when you're half in the grave
But I ain't dead yet, and I've got something to say
Oh, yeah
You've got holes in your clothes and booze on your breath
You look like hell and you smell like death
Oh
There's a stranger in my eyes again
I swear to God I don't know him
You're tired of me, I'm tired of you
So turn around and leave me to myself
Oh, yeah
You've got holes in your clothes and booze on your breath
You look like hell and you smell like death
Oh
I've been out way too long, I'm heading right for the edge
If she asks about me, tell her I'm not dead yet
You've got holes in your clothes and booze on your breath
You look like hell and you smell like death
Oh
Smack this dumbass...I absolutely love when someone tries to prove how smart and insightful they are, only to reveal that they didn't know squat...bravo...
What does an A&R do in a record label?
Overseeing the recording process. The A&R division of a record label oversees the music style and recording. This includes helping the artist to find the right record producer, scheduling time in a recording studio and advising the artist on all aspects of making a high-quality recording.
So, as I implied in my original comment...sounds like a record label looking for inoffensive filler. I see that many of you like this...I have it rated as a 5, Decent....and it is that, a pretty decent track. Here's the thing. I listen to the old 70's era American Top 40 with Casey Casem on the weekends. There are many, many songs that hit the Top 40 back then that we never hear today. My wife and I will often comment, 'never heard that before'. I'll stand by my assertion that this track isn't strong enough to live on into the future twenty years hence. And no amount of trying to show me how superior you are will change my opinion. And after a incredibly successful sales career, I'm pretty damn good at picking winners...you, maybe not so much....
Irrelevant comment and not to the point.
Also reminiscent of Monty Python Holy Grail... "I'm not dead yet! I think I'll go for a walk!"
Sweet! New Lord Huron!
i think the whole album is great. if you haven't checked it out, it highly recommend it
Sounds a bit T-Rex in places. I like it.
T-Rex meets Elvis. Interesting
Not terrible...but really do we need ANOTHER band with this indie rock/folk sound? It's all so very bland. Like very record label A&R inoffensive bland. It's like the art in a hotel room. It's there on the wall. Better than a blank wall...but there's no way you go home and tell your spouse about it...
Oh and just an edit. The thumbs down on this is hilarious. Like really? Can you honestly tell me that some random Lord Huron track is going to get played in 20 years like its some sort of classic. Not a chance. I'd drop a deserved f -bomb on that, but decency and all that. Like I said above...not terrible...just bland and completely forgettable...
Will anyone care, 20 years from now, that you made some random negative comments here? I’m guessing….NOT!
Do you see how that works?

I would like to still be listening to them in 20 years. You are probably right though. We'll still get to listen to the Beatles in 20 years but not this band. Ah well.
The more songs I hear by them, the more I like them.
Me too! I have listened to their albums - really great!
I always thought AOR was album oriented rock
It is.
From the vanishing species of Album Oriented Rock DJ's in the 80's.
I always thought AOR was album oriented rock
It is actually...
LOL you don't even know that it's not "A&R" is AOR - Adult Oriented Rock. You're also ignorant of the differences in the music media landscape since whatever songs were made that you think are "classics." Music is much more decentralized now and this is soooooooooooooooo far what mainstream radio plays that your comments are irrelevant.

Sweet! New Lord Huron!
Seeing them this Sunday, with First Aid Kit opening -- deeply psyched!
1 week from today they will be in Eugene, looking forward to seeing this group
They were dancing in the aisles! Good show!
MOAR, please!
Well they do. The whole album, videos, pandemic-live video shows, and concerts all have a concept thread running through it for this one.

Ummm... A&R refers to a record label career position.
An A&R (artists and repertoire) representative is responsible for finding promising new artists for a record label or music publisher to sign.
Now you know.
Umm that's not what he/she was referring to. Try it in the sentence.
"artists and repertoire representative inoffensive bland." Yea, that makes sense.
Even funnier to suggest that AOR somehow reflects bland music. Quite the contrary for the day. AOR allowed DJ's to play whatever cut they wanted from the selected ALBUMs. Versus only the preselected hit songs.
And I love that they wrote a song named after a line from Monty Python's Holy Grail movie.

I didn't see where anyone asserted that a song of theirs would "get played in 20 years like its some sort of classic". Some people like this song and other songs by this recording artist.

Wow, I was just saying that to my wife and then saw your post. I hear what you're hearing, absolutely. Great stuff, great fun.
Sweet! New Lord Huron!
Yes, indeed! Now that music venues are starting to open up, I would love to see this band live. It will have to be a concert north of the 49th parallel, however, unless the border opens up for us "unsafe" Canucks to venture south.
Didn't know he had a new album out. Now I know. Must buy.
