Could you define it in more detail
Ugh... It is when uh,
The name is uh, paranoiac critical method
Because its one, spontaneous method of knowledge
Basic in the instantaneous association
Of delirious matter

All I want,
All I want
You're all I want
All I want
All I want
You're all I want
All I want
You're all I want
I see you, I see grace
I love you now, feel the taste
I'll be there for you
I'll be there for you.
I see you now, you can't escape
Words too slow, us too late
I'll be there for you
I'll be there for you!
All I want
You're all I want
You're all I need
Baby you're all (I need)
Don't be scared
Don't be scared
Cause it dark at night
Cause it dark at night
Don't be scared...
Imagine an atmosphere in which oxygen and nitrogen exchanged the percentages.
Dude! Humans would be, like, dead and shit from O2 toxicity. Not cool.
Our planet is remarkably ideal for our remarkable selves. We should treat it that way.
I played this once while motorbiking with my (now ex) girlfriend between Banff and Radium Hot Springs. Later she told me the song conjured a vision of a post-apocalyptic cowboy walking through the abandoned carcass of a state's fair grounds.
What a great imagination!
Each time this comes up on the RP playlists it gives me pause, and I always have to check to see who it is. Ah yes; right. It was my intro to YB (thanks Bill!) and I always find myself bopping along to it with a smile, despite of (because of?) its mash up of Floyd, Hot Butter, JMJarre, and a rather heavy dose of Yello. I grew up with all of those in my collections and I'm a big Shpongle fan and love Posford's ability to combine such diverse musical influences and instrumentations. Good fun.
One of the best music events I ever attended featured Posford doing a live DJ set. Fabulous light show too.
I had to look it up. That weird spoken introduction came from an interview with Salvador Dali. I'm very not surprised.

As in, highly explosive? The Earth burns to a crisp?
Let's not be hyperbolic. Only the biosphere of the Earth would be burned to a crisp. You know, the organic stuff in contact with the oxygen. The planet itself would be relatively unaffected by the raging inferno.

heh, steel. not sure if that was intentional, but, nice one!
Sort of? Sounds to my ears like Totally! Not that that's a bad thing, but it is kinda eerie.
Excellent.

Oh, man. I just saw that Pieter said the same thing a year ago. Clearly, Pieter and I are hearing the same thing. Which means we're both getting old. Hang in there, Pieter. The older we get, the slower we move. And the slower we move, according to the quantum physicists, the faster time passes. So, for us, all this INSANITY going on in the world should be over pretty soon.
Equinox, by Jean-Michel Jarre?
You got me wondering what this "Duke of Edinburgh Award" was. Thanks for expanding my awareness, under the heading of "good things happening in the world."

Great song!

Slight correction. His name is Jean Michel Jarre. Jeanne and Michelle are feminine names in French.
You're right. This could be on the Oxygene-album.
Also hearing a lot of Future Islands in there. Not sure which came first, but I like them both
THAT girl is a keeper! Sorry she got away.

Wow. Your're right....Oxygene?
Embarassed I didn't think of that!
I wish folk would stop trying to paint Younger Brother as Floyd rip-offs. I'm a PF fan of old, and it's very clear to me that YB have their own sound, their own groove, and their own philosophy. I'm sure that they, like most electronica artists, will pay homage to PF, but they're no more a rip-off of PF than Tracey Emin is a rip-off of Man Ray. YB don't use guitars, for a start.
.....
Hear! Hear! Accompanied by loud table thumping. (Except the band does use guitars.)
Why - For every paranoiac it makes perfect sense!
Who told you I was paranoid?!
I love both PF and JMJ but in my book this one is definitely more Jean Michel Jarre-ish than Pink Floyd-ish
Exactly!

Yep. And this is like the thousandth time I've been working and think "hey, I like that" and it's another damned Younger Brother song...
Thanks, BillG
It's not so bizarre in Finland, believe me ;-)
Maybe she's just a mate of the artists?

erm, watch this. Next you will be telling us PF didn't use sequencers. This song is a YB version of One of these days with its lap steel solo.
My bad - sorry. I should obey the old maxim: a closed mouth gathers no feet. And now, less comment, more listen...
I agree.
But they DO lend directly from Pink Floyd in some songs.
Not bad.. just saying :)
This song reminds me of Jean Michel Jarre btw

YB are a recent discovery for me too, again through RP. I hear guitars on the album e.g. 'I am a freak' and 'Ribbon on a branch'? Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway I had no problem getting their CD's through Amazon although using them may grate with some people.
Best to buy them from the artist directly, aka Simon Posford et al, his site is twistedmusic.com. His prices are reasonable, ships anywhere and he makes more money to pay for the ridiculous Shpongle stage shows he puts on. There are guitars all over that too, LOL.

Once again, a very big thanks to RP for introducing me to YB, who have been an aural breath of fresh air, and who are truly distinctive. It's a shame that it's the devil's own job finding CDs of them in shops, but perhaps that comes from their club background where everything is distributed electronically and CDs are so passe' my dear.

Not a coincidence, I suspect.
Please bury it...
Jelani,
You know that we care.
I dig them too!
Sounds more like Jean Michel Jarre to me

Just when I think the groove is done, along comes Bill G and confounds me.
This is a good thing.
Well put.
indeed, but still I really dig YB. Call it inspiration
No we just skipped the last 2 decades (music wise).....at least I did.
and I mean that in a good way.
I didn't know that it was Dali - thanks for the info. It's a nice spooky and surreal start to the song, which is an easy 8 from the tranced-out Nottingham jury.
spot on!
He seems also to mimic Gilmour's sound and technique of playing the Fender lap steel without any pedals.
Love the artwork, ( Storm Thorgerson RIP,) and the direction this band is going. Wish they'd add a guitarist to the mix.
Sounds like a good influence to me!
