Bite chunks out of me
You're a shark and I'm swimming
My heart still thumps as I bleed
And all your friends come sniffing

Triangles are my favorite shape
Three points where two lines meet
Toe to toe, back to back, let's go, my love it's very late
'Til moming comes, let's tessellate

Go alone my flower
And keep my whole lovely you
Wild green stones alone my lover
And keep us on my heart

Three guns and one goes off
One's empty, one's not quick enough
One bum, one red, one grin
Search the graves while the camera spins

Chunks of you will sink down to seals
Blubber rich in mouming, they'll nosh you up
Yes, they'll nosh the love away but it's fair to say
You will still haunt me

Triangles are my favorite shape
Three points where two lines meet
Toe to toe, back to back, let's go my love it's very late
'Til moming comes, let's tessellate

Rockin'!
This version, only ever heard here, is, by far, the best version. Guaranteed to be turned up to 11 EVERY. DAMN. TIME.
I tried looking for this online, but any result for Broadbandits Afro mix sounded different. It seems like the afro mix was again remixed by RDW (aka Rock Da World) on Soundcloud, which is what RP plays here! Get it?

I really like this track, thanks for playing it!!
Love that version of their track!

SOOOO GOOOOOD
Man, RP sure is making my Friday way better! This too goes up to eleven and the neighbors don't complain...yet.
What a mix. 20/10.
Gifting this to the neighborhood, loudly and out the window,  this morning. Such a great song.
Such a cool groove! Thanks RP! Cha'mon!

My favorite cut from a great album.

A funny story:  Because, thanks to RP, I've been an Alt-J fan for years and likewise my 18-year old son has been a super lucky kid and gotten to hear them for all those years too thanks to my being in control of the stereo (when I'm home).  For quite a while, he wasn't too impressed with Alt-J, and then about a year ago he came home from school one day and sought out my Alt-J disc — turns out his homies are all hip to Alt-J, and now so is he and he's unleashing some of their other cuts on them!

Long live RP; your mission to spread the sweet sounds must carry on!

Similarly, my daughter, unbeknownst to me, became a huge Alt-J fan (as am I). So who better for her very first concert?! They were awesome live, and she was thrilled.
Killer remix. The original is a great track in its own right but the remix is a banger.
i used to have a coloring book when i was a kid that was entirely tessellate patterns. it was so much fun. i'm sure they're still around as "adult coloring books" were a thing several years ago...

I've now associated this song w/ the kid jammin'.  Hilarious and makes my day.  It's the little things in life, they say.
For those playing along at home it's Option-J on a Mac. ∆

Yeah.... this is a groover.

I try to time turning up the volume the very first time the chorus kicks in.

Rarely miss it so I'm rarely disappointed.

oh... and... I LOVE RP for introducing alt-J to me. But that's another story entirely. :-)

I Agree on both counts!

This mix is WHOAH!
Like the original, love this mix.
Just keep playing this on repeat. Can't get enough of this mix!
On a Macintosh that's option-j.
I keep coming back to see if this song's ratings are getting higher. (it's a 9 from me)
I think we need some Nickelback on the playlist, William. Look at this graph.
alt-J sounds good with cymbals.
Incredible remix, shame it's not on Spotify.....I have to wait for it to rotate on my favourite radio station :-)
Dirty deeds done dirt cheap?
Bill, loved your geometrical description of tessellation as the intro to this song. Here's an example you might enjoy contemplating Giant's Causeway

When I listen to college radio, it's like when I eat a bowl of Fruit Loops.   It tastes super great for a bit, and I'm like, Why did I ever stop eating Fruit Loops?  But, lo and behold, before the box is done I am dumping it into the waste basket.  Its flavor lasts about two bowls.  That's college radio.

We grow old without noticing sometimes.
Hah nice intro Bill!

now my eyes as well as my ears are Tessellating
You're just rocking my mind today Bill so I thank you sincerely from Kadıköy / Istanbul. We are living a beautiful Sunday afternoon here and the music just turns things up for sure.

I grew quite fond of Alt-j; they became one of the musicians I regularly listen to with great pleasure thanks to your beautiful selection of their best works of music and 'Tessallate' is surely highly placed amongst them due to the balance of it's intense maturity and liveliness.

I also have to give great credit to 'Broadbandits Afro mix', the remix took an already beautifully written song to another level. A 'Rock'n Roll On!' type of level :)

A nice 10 from me obviously; to you, to Radio Paradise and to Alt-J.

With love from,

- Kadıköy / İstanbul, 2022 - 10th of July

I guess I'll have to be the one to point out that the riff in this 2012 hit is a copy of Fever Ray's "If I Had A Heart" from 2009.  The chords, keys, and even the instruments are exactly the same.
You brought me here... for a portal?
Nailed it
Yes!

I'm an old guy - 50's - and I just love this.
Sure, it's got that 2010's sound all over it and that's no bad thing.

But it's ORIGINAL - the mix brings in elements from all over the place, which is the hallmark of an original artist. To magpie what is happening in music present and past.

It almost gives me that back of the neck hair raise thing, which to me, is like ... the ultimate. It either hits the belly, or the hairs on your neck - if it hits both, well, that's God like. This isn't there ... but...

Very powerful, very clever.
When I was 14 I lost my Tesselate, but immediately went out and bought a Pro-YoYo..............much better.

Try Discogs -- they're a very reliable source for hard-to-find recordings. Also very cool folks operating the controls.

Where can I find this mix!!?

There is a link to buy the song on the title page;  If you're PRIME, its free to stream or deep dive into the album.

But why would you need to? Bill will get around to it again soon enough with a lot of other choice stuff in between.
My wife (RIP) used to tessellate Quilts. I always think of her when Bill plays this...
and people say Yes have indecipherable lyrics...
"Toe to toe, back to back, let's go my love it's very late
'Til moming comes, let's tessellate"

Hell yeah, let's do it!!!
giddee up.

I always though Alt-J was Electronica... Its's Folktronica! (Wiki)
Brilliant remix. Absolutely love this version. Shame I can't buy it.
Love this song! Hate that I can't get it anywhere! (The Broadbands Afro mix, I mean). The original is fine, but this version goes with a lot more of my playlists! {#Wink}

One of my regrets, now that I have retired from teaching, is that I did not have this song on my playlist during my teaching days.  What a great tune this would have been to rock a Grade 7 math class for a geometry lesson!!
nice
I finally have a copy of this song on CD!  Got the limited edition pressing used from an eBay seller in Australia...https://www.discogs.com/alt-J-An-Awesome-Wave/release/4233132.

I may have posted this before but this band reminds me of Junkhouse for some reason. The vocalist sounds a bit like Tom Wilson I guess.

I had not caught that but now that is all I can hear. Tom Wilson, with Junkhouse and all his others bands/ solo is one of those Canadian treasures!

How does one Tessellate?  Is it one of those things where if you have to ask you probably should avoid the attempt?

Okay, Garyalex, I was grinning at your post and saw NoisyMiner seemed to know something I didn't. I Googled.... A tessellation is a real thing!
an arrangement of shapes closely fitted together, especially of polygons in a repeated pattern without gaps or overlapping.

I'm sure we've all tessellated a time or two in our lives....
