This too me is a great example of where Lennon may have taken his song writing if he hadn't been killed. More upbeat than his 73-75 period, interesting lyrically and musically. I believe he wrote it for Ringo. Good stuff.

Ann Lucas passed away February 6, 2012, at University of Utah Medical Center, at age 55 due to a subdural hematoma, which required surgery. She was put on life support, but after three days without signs of improvement, her family made the difficult decision to discontinue life support and donate her organs on the 6th.
Ann was born on Oct. 12, 1956, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Buss and Dorothy Stepp, who encouraged her to follow her dreams. One dream was to become a published author, which she achieved in 2010 with her novel "Life-Dance". She also wrote fan fiction for the television show "La Femme Nikita".
Ann was also a freelance correspondent for the "Elko Independent" newspaper and had a recurring column called "Shaking the Tree", as well as writing articles for "Elko Daily Free Press".

I thought the same thing when I heard this song on the radio the other day.
Yes, it was "strange days indeed" in the 80s when this came out.

This is timely.
John will always be my favorite Beatle. That being said, a lot of his solo stuff is not great. I think Yoko inspired him to be more experimental which is a double edged sword musically.
Just to clarify that- I LOVE John. Don't dogpile me for saying one small negative thing about him. I know he is revered like some kind of Saint, but that song is the musical equivalent of doing laundry.

One can't help but admire the lyrics of a true songwriter....and to this day ' Strange Days Indeed!'wow so right on syncronistic!!!!....VERY STRANGE DAYS INDEED!

John was often at his best when channeling some of the stylistic influences of his youth - this could have been a big hit in the early "60s.
One of the best songs from a very spotty solo career. Oh John, why did you have to hook up with that daughter-of-a-Japanese-industrialist artist wannabe? It's 1968, the "Let It Be" movie is released and playing at the Montrose Theater in Houston. Yoko comes on screen for the first time to boo's throughout the house. A few years later a billionaire writes "Imagine no possessions." How fatuous is that?
I remember seeing the video for this song sometime in the early 80's. The picture of John and Yoko on the boat stuck in my head for many years up to the point I could not remember if it was actually part of the video or just my imagination. Thanks to YouTube this mystery could be solved.
