Pardon me
While I live in a fantasy
Quietly
Show you everything you'll ever need
I hope you'll take it
I know you're faking just a little bit
C'mon and taste it
Just get excited 'cause you're giving in

Come and see
How the wind in your hair will feel differently
Catch and release
The lure above

Here we are
In the bathwater overflow
Later on
Don't say I didn't tell you so
Maybe I didn't but you've taken it
Knew you were faking just a little bit
Now that you've tasted
No need to fight it 'cause you've given in

Follow me
Down the streams of sweat on your body
Can't believe
The lure was enough
Do you see
How the wind in your hair now feels differently
Catch and release
The lure above

And who knows
How this feeling grows
Was it truly worth, truly worth the starting
And who knows
Why the engine's blown
Hope it's truly worth, truly worth the parting

Follow me
Down the streams of sweat on your body
Can't believe
The lure was enough
Do you see
How the wind in your hair now feels differently
Catch and release
The lure above

Guess the lure was enough
Guess the lure was enough
Yes, the lure was enough

BETTER than the Pumpkins. Brian's vocals are so much better than Billy's. And Chris's drumming is off the hook. I can't stand the Pumpkins screaming.  All the songs sound the same....
Nice song but remindes me strongly of 'Slabo Day'  of  Peter Green.
Lovely track, though the vocals are very "forced" - sounds like the singer is constipated and struggling to push one out.
This is a crafty little ditty that not many pay attention tooooo badd!
First listened to this album about 10 years ago, and it just never gets old.
Those pickups aren't meant to be trucks, or SUV's I guess. The Silversun seems hardly sounding through any guitar pickups. Help me, someone... I hear soap boxes and Pinksun shinings...

Indeed! But I'm not sure that will help. This is what happens when you try to run music through spectral analysis.

Love this band, great record. I saw them at New Orleans Jazz Fest, they tore it up!!! Awesome live
New to me just now. Great to hear the bass echoing the melody line and the smooth vocals trading off traditional melody and harmony with a more polyphonic style. Makes me sit up and take notice.
I don‘t know any other band with a similar sound to SP‘s „Swoon“-album. Their utter simplicity and controlled energy flow is remarkable. I love this album. This song and the whole album in fact always brings up so many memories to me. As a 20-year-old I‘ve spent six months living in L.A. with my then best friend. We‘d listen to KROQ all the time in the car. Going downtown to work, driving along Santa Monica Beach and then „Panic Switch“ would play, I‘ll never forget this juvenile feeling of freedom after graduating from school in Germany. This was in 2010. So much has changed during that time and I haven‘t been back since. I miss the West Coast, miss the smell of the air, miss the bumpy freeway under the wheels of our Chevy pick up truck. I never minded American politics then. It‘s only from overseas that this beautiful view and the people, the food, everything get‘s this dark overlayer. Still - my love for California - and of course SP - will prevail. And I‘ll be back. And finally won‘t have to cheat the bouncer to get into the Rainbow and get myself a cold one. F*** this shit! Haha, now that I remember it, that was so sad.. only five out of ten times I managed getting in, one time even dressed as a photographer for one of the bands playing. Sounds like a made up story, but I actually went on to become the photographer of that band on their future gigs at Rainbow, Whiskey, Key Club etc. They broke up long ago btw and their singer, a Russia born madman is now a Trump supporter par excellence and gun enthusiast. Who would‘ve guessed.. bye bye punkrock. Anyways - much love to all of you, RP-community!

Always a soft spot for me. I grew up in Philly and saw them numerous times when they were making thier way up the ladder. When I moved to Miami I saw them open for Stevie Nicks at the then Miami Area. I loved their unrecorded or unrelease track 'Man in the Streets'. Loved it so much I contacted Cornerstone to get right for it to use in what's now a classic film for jetski and personal watercraft enthusiasts, Jet Dreams. I miss them. It's great that RP plays them every so often. I wonder what the band members are up to these days.

I'm confused.  Silversun Pickups are from, and made their way up in, Los Angeles.  To my knowledge they have no song titled 'Man in the Streets' and have not opened for Stevie Nicks.  Jet Dreams was a show from the 90's and this band started out in the aughts.

Perhaps this comment was meant to go with the song that preceded it on the playlist.  I have been known to accidentally start in the wrong thread as the song switched as I was going to comment.
Will always love SSP. I have every album and play them all the time. Getting Old is still one of favorite tracks of all time.

Haven't heard this one before, but I love the bass!
I bought "Swoon" immediately after hearing "Growing Old is Getting Old" here, on RP, for the first time, a couple years ago.
Great band with a very interesting sound. Highly recommended.
Climbing towards a 10.
Intriguing band! From the first time I heard "Lazy Eye" through every time I hear anything by them, I'm amazed. Such talented passion!
Another great band I learned about through RP. Mesmerizing stuff.

I would not have known about this truly awesome band if it weren't for Bill and RadioParadise.

THATS WHY I give a donation to RP operating costs every month......WHAT about you!?
Haven't heard this in a while. Thanks for the play.

I used to own one of these, oh no wait, that was a silver Datsun pickup.

My vocabularian synapses get confused so easily these days.

And, for a little relevance, I like this track.

I'm getting the feeling that the playlist for the past 45 minutes is based on my list of favorites. Two 10's and five 9's since 9:15 AM

Not sure why, but I found this more interesting and enjoyable to listen to when I found out it was a male vocalist, perhaps the opposite to many of you??

Nice vibe, like this band a lot.
This really couldn't be much worse
Like their rockin' tunes MUCH better.

Although there's a bit of the Billy Corgan and his pumkin patch in here that I could perhaps get to like with repeat listens.
IMHO she's a better bass player than he is a singer.

I don't like the vocals very much, but I can't help but like the song.
I just can't get w the dismalness of this band.  Bill sure loves em apparently.
This tune makes me Swoooon!!
like.  much.

I've been working in Portland for the past several months.  I like your schedule, Portland in the summer and Florida the rest.  This time of year is a bit too gray, and damp for my tastes.  But I think I'm done so back to Austin for me!

But I did shamelessly jump on the Oregon Ducks bandwagon this year!
Second beautiful song from these guys today! Nice!
I like these guys a lot.
The string arrangement on this song is gorgeous!

I really like these guys. When I get grumpy and annoyed with most new music, I turn to Radio Paradise and my faith in music is restored. You guys played Silversun Pickups first, and now the broadcast stations have followed. You are the true pioneers.

I am always pleased to find someone who really gives a damn about how I express my opinion or whether I am close-minded or not.  I guess I needed to add "in my opinion" or that cute little IMO in my post just to clarify.  Why do you care?  As for politics, I don't discuss that too much because IMO they're all crooks.

Le'ts add it up. . . average it a bit. . . 9

See? That is how to rate songs here. {#Tongue-out}

i like the vocals.. built to spill is one of my favorite bands. the difference is songwriting. the pickups songs are just frivolous and whiney.

Billy Corgan just wants to be somebody again.  The Pickups are on the way up.  Stand aside.

It gets a 4 from me for the moment.

But, yes, the album art is nice.

And what exactly is wrong with searching for beauty?  Answer?  Nothing whatsoever.

I like "Three Seed" from them, but find his voice a bit unpleasant, like if he was just posing

Called my 20 year old daughter in the listen to this. She looked funny at me and asked me if I wanted to listen to the CD, she already had it. I was almost cool there for a minute
I caught it but have not released yet—7

Far out, Catherwood. Roll another bomber and leave it on the sidetable.
This song makes me feel 19 years old.  How many things in life can do that?
This is superb. At least an 8 in my book.

I thought Carnavas was decent with Lazy Eye and Rusted Wheel, but Swoon is like a bad set of b-sides to that album. No original thought to this one, just fulfilling the contract I guess.
dig the pickups!

I bought this based on what I heard on RP.  B and R definitely took the best cuts from it I think.  It's a pretty good album though.  Even though dude sounds like he just breathed in a helium balloon

I'm completely hooked on this song.  I woke up the other day with that bass line going through my head again and again.  Thanks RP for introducing me to it!

Anyone want to take a shot at interpreting the lyrics?  Some say it's about dumping one fling for another (catch a new one, release the old one).  Others say it's about drugs, maybe because of the dreamy lyrics.  Other say it's just about sex ("... follow me down the streams of sweat on your body", great line), and the seduction that goes with it.  What is "the lure above"?

UltraNurd: According to wikipedia they have an inde label, so they are probably getting their fair share from CD sales, I wouldn't worry about buying in either form (CD or iTunes).
Don't usually comment here, but I had to log in and say the following about this band:
