Nice song but remindes me strongly of 'Slabo Day' of Peter Green.
Lovely track, though the vocals are very "forced" - sounds like the singer is constipated and struggling to push one out.
This is a crafty little ditty that not many pay attention tooooo badd!
First listened to this album about 10 years ago, and it just never gets old.
Those pickups aren't meant to be trucks, or SUV's I guess. The Silversun seems hardly sounding through any guitar pickups. Help me, someone... I hear soap boxes and Pinksun shinings...

Love this band, great record. I saw them at New Orleans Jazz Fest, they tore it up!!! Awesome live
New to me just now. Great to hear the bass echoing the melody line and the smooth vocals trading off traditional melody and harmony with a more polyphonic style. Makes me sit up and take notice.
I don‘t know any other band with a similar sound to SP‘s „Swoon“-album. Their utter simplicity and controlled energy flow is remarkable. I love this album.
This song and the whole album in fact always brings up so many memories to me. As a 20-year-old I‘ve spent six months living in L.A. with my then best friend. We‘d listen to KROQ all the time in the car. Going downtown to work, driving along Santa Monica Beach and then „Panic Switch“ would play, I‘ll never forget this juvenile feeling of freedom after graduating from school in Germany. This was in 2010. So much has changed during that time and I haven‘t been back since. I miss the West Coast, miss the smell of the air, miss the bumpy freeway under the wheels of our Chevy pick up truck. I never minded American politics then. It‘s only from overseas that this beautiful view and the people, the food, everything get‘s this dark overlayer.
Still - my love for California - and of course SP - will prevail. And I‘ll be back. And finally won‘t have to cheat the bouncer to get into the Rainbow and get myself a cold one. F*** this shit! Haha, now that I remember it, that was so sad.. only five out of ten times I managed getting in, one time even dressed as a photographer for one of the bands playing. Sounds like a made up story, but I actually went on to become the photographer of that band on their future gigs at Rainbow, Whiskey, Key Club etc.
They broke up long ago btw and their singer, a Russia born madman is now a Trump supporter par excellence and gun enthusiast. Who would‘ve guessed.. bye bye punkrock.

Will always love SSP. I have every album and play them all the time. Getting Old is still one of favorite tracks of all time.

I bought "Swoon" immediately after hearing "Growing Old is Getting Old" here, on RP, for the first time, a couple years ago.
Great band with a very interesting sound. Highly recommended.

I really like these guys. When I get grumpy and annoyed with most new music, I turn to Radio Paradise and my faith in music is restored. You guys played Silversun Pickups first, and now the broadcast stations have followed. You are the true pioneers.

i like the vocals.. built to spill is one of my favorite bands. the difference is songwriting. the pickups songs are just frivolous and whiney.

Im always tempted to dismiss this band based on the vocals, but once i give them a chance im always surprised to find that i am really getting into the music. Sometimes it takes a few listens for their songs to grow on me, however this was an instant like.

I like "Three Seed" from them, but find his voice a bit unpleasant, like if he was just posing

I thought Carnavas was decent with Lazy Eye and Rusted Wheel, but Swoon is like a bad set of b-sides to that album. No original thought to this one, just fulfilling the contract I guess.

I'm completely hooked on this song. I woke up the other day with that bass line going through my head again and again. Thanks RP for introducing me to it!
Anyone want to take a shot at interpreting the lyrics? Some say it's about dumping one fling for another (catch a new one, release the old one). Others say it's about drugs, maybe because of the dreamy lyrics. Other say it's just about sex ("... follow me down the streams of sweat on your body", great line), and the seduction that goes with it. What is "the lure above"?
Anyone want to take a shot at interpreting the lyrics? Some say it's about dumping one fling for another (catch a new one, release the old one). Others say it's about drugs, maybe because of the dreamy lyrics. Other say it's just about sex ("... follow me down the streams of sweat on your body", great line), and the seduction that goes with it. What is "the lure above"?
UltraNurd: According to wikipedia they have an inde label, so they are probably getting their fair share from CD sales, I wouldn't worry about buying in either form (CD or iTunes).

Reminds me a bit of Smashing Pumpkins, but definitely on the unique side.
BETTER than the Pumpkins. Brian's vocals are so much better than Billy's. And Chris's drumming is off the hook. I can't stand the Pumpkins screaming. All the songs sound the same....
