In the event of something happening to me
There is something I would like you all to see
It's just a photograph of someone that I knew
Have you seen my wife, Mr. Jones?
Do you know what it's like on the outside?
Don't go talkin' too loud, you'll cause a landslide, Mr. Jones
I keep straining my ears to hear a sound
Maybe someone is digging underground
Or have they given up and all gone home to bed
Thinking those that once existed must be dead?
Have you seen my wife, Mr. Jones?
Do you know what it's like on the outside?
Don't go talkin' too loud, you'll cause a landslide, Mr. Jones

How can something over 20 years old be so novel?

I listen all day every day at work for the musicality and rhythm. Love this station. Found this acapella to be an unpleasantly jarring interruption to the musical experience that is RP. Thankfully it was short. Agree with the underrepresentation of "2" ratings, so added one to the distribution.
2 seems under-represented in the ratings for this flat sono-lyri-cognitive dissonance.

Oh please no, not again again again again.
Good that you play "Mr. Jones" from the Counting Crows after that, fits very well!

I believe it was the BeeGees...This afternoon, that song was followed by Counting crows "Mr. Jones". Nice touch.

That's why I rated it a 10.
Get rid of this one.
Had it at a 4,; bumped ti to 5 after looking at the Band Name and the Dog Cover; back to four after wikiread that they are a bunch of woke godless commies.

Interesting backstory on the song, written by the Bee Gees, inspired by a mining disaster some years earlier in Wales: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

Thank you for changing the followup song to not be Counting Crows. :-)
oops.
This song was too short! 1:57? What the heck?
Vocal sounds like Kirsty MacColl to me.
I didn't think I would ever hear this on RP. Thanks Bill!

Well at least I know I'm listening to a 2 month (or older) playlist. Not that I'm complaining. I think I might have won a bet though.
Another sublime segue......Jimmy Dean's"Big Bad John" to Chumbawamba's "New York Mining Disaster" . Thank you Bill & Rebecca for making RP the best radio station.....

They are ostentatiously socialist, they take themselves seriously. Bollocks by name and similarly by nature. The lyrics probably have some obscure reference to welfare in them.
A nice try. But shame on the nasty bass tone
i like. Compelling rendition. Funny i remember the melody, but not the emotional impact of the lyrics. But then i was a 20 something muttonhead, much worse than now.
MY EARS ARE BLEEDING...Just because you can does not mean you should. Please no more.
Love it! Great a capella version, with all the dissonances.

Bill followed this one up with "Mr. Jones" by Counting Crows. I guess that means Mr. Jones got out of the mine OK. Glad to hear it.
Sheesh!
The female singer sounds a bit like a non-smoking Marianne Faithful.
No need chubawamba when you have the bee gees... Please, play more from this underrated band, a pure jewel of harmony.
2 seems under-represented in the ratings for this flat sono-lyri-cognitive dissonance.
It was only when I took note of the lyrics that I recognised this travesty, truly horrendous version!
now taken.

Actually enjoyed this track...until it was followed by Counting Crows' Mr. Jones
No Bee Gee's, nor Chumbawamba either.
Liked the Mr./ Mrs. Jones theme with the Counting Crows played following.
Still don't need to hear this one again.

Bill...please no.
Any a cappella rendition, especially of something as sonically rich as "New York Mining Disaster," deserves attention. This is nicely done.

Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Had a room full of people just go what the hell is this!...and it was not a compliment. Just because you can, does not mean you should. Just awful.

Interesting cover. Knew the words, but couldn't place the song until I googled. Damn! The Bee Gees?

I won the Bee Gee's version in a potato sack race all those years ago.
My fist single.

Bump! Uploaded and selected a 6 years ago but never introduced in the playlist.
Recent selection by Rebecca. Now the next step will be for Bill to insert it in the playlist. Then, people can start listening to it, commenting on it with clever comparison with the original Bee Gees performance, and so on.. As the uploader, I will not make any comment on - this absolutely lovely and astonishing interpretation of - this song, nor rate it. Just thinking this is one of the softer song from one of their recent albums and there is a lot more to discover in them.
