headed back down south
gonna see my daddy's mistress
gonna buy back her forgivness
pay off every witness
One more time down south
sell the family headstones
drag a bag of dry bones
make good on my back loans
so if i come to your door
let me sleep on your floor
i'll give you all i have
and a little more
sleep late down south
look up my former mentors
live off yankee winters
be a landlord and a renter
create myself down south
impress all the women
pretend i'm samuel clemens
wear seersucker and white linens
so if i come to your door
let me sleep on your floor
i'll give you all i have
and a little more
spanish moss down south
find the heros of my childhood
who now can do me no good
carve their names in dogwood
chasin' ghosts down south
spirits cross the dead fields
mosquitoes hit the windshield
all document remain sealed
so if i come to your door
let me sleep on your floor
i'll give you all i have
and a little more
i'll give you all i have

This has the same tune as a Bob Dylan song, only it's kinda lame. Tom, you can do better than this!!
There is no success like a failure (and a failure's no success at all )
he's bordering on has-been with this release.
needs to step it up a bit

how self important to imply that the artist might have time or interest in reading comments appearing here... now, please.... know who we are and have fun with this. this tune bumps along nicely but I'm not inclinned to write home about it.
Boooooooooooooooooob...

Actually this reminds me of a more uptempo version of Neil Young's "Thrasher". Either way, it's derivative...but I must add that I like it a good deal anyway!

Kind of sad. TP was once one of my favorite artists. He really hasn't done anything original in years.
What's particularly grating about the song is person - Joe Average. "I'll give you all I have and a little more". I wish!
Many years ago, a friend pointed this out about an old Bob Segar song - "Against the Wind". The idea that a millionaire rock star is "Still runnin' against the wind" or about to sleep on my floor because he's got nowhere to go is preposterous. You can say they're adopting a persona, but I don't buy it.
How about Echo? I think that's one of TP's best albums ever. I haven't heard much of this or The Last DJ, but what I've heard off of this one is pretty good. I'm hoping to see TP and the Allman Brothers next week.
