She told me he was beating her today
And she showed me all the bruises on her face
I said, baby, can I make it all OK
She said, honey, you should make him go away
There's a hundred thousand dollars in the bank
And the policy he took out yesterday
We can live outside the country for awhile
Until things smooth over and get under control
There's a tattoo of your name across my soul
I bought a rifle and black guns without a name
For an alibi she went six states away
When I saw him I felt fire I felt cold
Like the devil and the lord wanted my soul
Like the tattoo of your name across my soul
So I shot him in his car until he died
I called to give the signal and she cried
Life has a way of making other plans
She called the cops and said I was a crazy man
I'm gonna get this thing removed when I can
There was never any policy
And the bruises came from falling on the street
So the judge gave me one hundred thousand years
In the courtroom she was filling up with tears
I saw her hold the lawyer's hand real tight
They looked tired from lack of sleep last night
Seems the whole time she had me under control
With a tattoo of her name across my soul
She gets off and I will never have parole
Just this tattoo of your name across my soul
Just this tattoo of your name across my soul
And she showed me all the bruises on her face
I said, baby, can I make it all OK
She said, honey, you should make him go away

You've never heard "Frankie & Johnny", "Folsom Prison Blues", "Hey Joe", Midnight Rambler", etc..?
Firsts - Song I ever heard that was about murder. January 6, 2015. How did this happen? Did I turn my back? Was there a chance and I missed it?
Is this infamy? Not sure I'm really glad to hear it.
Maybe I should write songs.

Good song. The title is actually "Tattoo Of Your Name".
This song is on youtube as "Tattoo of Your Name"...?
This could be an Old 97s song.

How did it happen? People writing about other people. Film noir. Sid & Nancy. The sad fact that some of our species acts on dark urges and seems to get more efficient at killing. Perhaps you are young. Perhaps you are not young but turned your back on other forms of music —- folk, country, blues and a particular Jimmie Hendrix song? Write songs and battle the darkness!

This is a different version that what is on the April album. Less refined, less produced, and a little less electric. Like a demo. What gives?
Yeah a bit of Kinks in their sound. I been kinda digging it..
Sounds a bit like the Kinks A Well Respected Man or is just me ?
Another understated ditty from VAST.

Pretty cool little number
Happy New Year from Norway!
Is this a different version than on the album? Sounds different, less developed than the version I have.
Kooky cover art! Love it.
the lyrics were really good—-a noir story, like Stan Ridgway.
It was in the context of several songs who's vocalists sounded a little like Ray Davies; they all sounded pleasant.
I liked it. I still have to read the lyrics.

Not a vast VAST song.
Love this song! First time I've heard it on RP.
Maybe I should write songs.
Start once you've identified the nuances of this one.
