Mexican justice didn't behave properly at the time of her death. Interesting read on Wiki
better with The Pogues
Such a major talent who never really got the critical and commercial success she deserved. Sadly missed.
So nice to hear something other than These Shoes song (don't get me wrong, I love that song)...truly sad loss.
So sad she's gone. Would like to have seen what else she could have done.
RIP, miss you.
I can't quite put my finger on it, this one just moves along nicely. Definitely quite likeable.

Sade-ish production. I like, 8

What a U2 ripoff, speaking of the guitar and bass intro and bridges.

That's what I came in here to comment on as well. A bit less gravelly than Marianne's, though.
Mariann's voice wasn't always that gravelly, it was decades of smoking that did that, Listen to her earlier stuff from the mid 60's....

I miss Kirsty. Nice to hear her again.

Seems like Bill's reaching back into the closet to pull out some dusty gems to play today! I'm really enjoying the sets.
Wow, wasn't expecting this! It's been awhile, very welcome to hear. Will have to dig out my Kirsty album when I get home...

Kirsty.

Sigh.
Sigh.

On RP, she practically IS a one hit wonder, as the shoe song is the only one I had ever heard. And I have heard it a LOT of times.
You sure do complain a lot about songs being overplayed here on RP. One might even be tempted to say that you are overplaying that complaint. If Bill plays "In These Shoes" every week or so its probably because he likes it and so do a lot of other folks. Hence its more than respectable 7.7 rating with more than 1100 raters.

Wow, she DOES have other songs than the one about shoes! Who would have known...

Do you know who Kirsty MacColl is/was, when I listen to her I am not thinking about U2. She is/was a very good artist.
Kirsty, please come back and wake up

The guitar does sound a bit like The Edge, but c'mon: it's not like he has sole rights to that sound. I can't see Bono singing this song, FWIW.
Kirsty is very cool, what a tragic death.

Sadly, according to the Wiki referen ce above, Kirsty was killed by a speedboat while trying to save her sons: "...a speeding powerboat entered the restricted area. MacColl saw the boat coming for her sons. Louis was not in the boat's path, but Jamie was. She was able to push him out of the way (he sustained minor head and rib injuries) but in doing so, she was hit by the boat and killed instantly. <3" target="_blank">
The boat involved in the accident was owned by Mexican supermarket millionaire Guillermo González Nova, who was on board with several members of his family."
I wish I just woke up
from a nice, long, uninterrupted sleep
with dreams of places I have never been
but they still seem so much a part of me
That was a nice song, especially since I just woke up!
EditDec 27, 06: Hearing it again, thought it was Poe...still love it!

Cool to see my first upload that has been added to the playlist!
I got this disc in 1994 when if first came out, and have loved Kirsty MacColl's music ever since.
This version of the song is actually from the original Titanic Days CD, not the new remastered version (for what it's worth).

Cute - puts me in mind of Nellie McKay. Maybe a little less edge, which is not necessarily a bad thing...
Woohoo!
"New" Kirsty!
I know it's originally from 1994, but it has been remastered and will be rereleased...
