Extreme ways are back again, extreme places I didn't know
I broke everything new again, everything that I'd owned
I threw it out the windows, came along, extreme ways I know
Will part the colors of my sea, perfect color me
Extreme ways that help me, help me out late at night
Extreme places I had gone but never seen any light
Dirty basements, dirty noise, dirty places coming through
Extreme worlds alone, did you ever like it planned?
I would stand in line for this, there's always room in life for this
Oh baby, oh baby, then it fell apart, it fell apart
Oh baby, oh baby, then it fell apart, it fell apart
Oh baby, oh baby, then it fell apart, it fell apart
Oh baby, oh baby, like it always does, always does
Extreme sounds that told me, they helped me down every night
I didn't have much to say, I didn't give up the light
I closed my eyes and closed myself and closed my world and never opened
Up to anything that could get me along
I had to close down everything, I had to close down my mind
Too many things that caught me, too much can make you blind
I've seen so much in so many places, so many heartaches, so many faces
So many dirty things, you couldn't even believe
I would stand in line for this, it's always good in life for this
Oh baby, oh baby, then it fell apart, it fell apart
Oh baby, oh baby, then it fell apart, it fell apart

I like Moby & this tune has always had a great vibe and driving rhythm.
I met him once, very briefly, way back in the 90s, at a house party on Central street in SF. It was like trying to talk to a housefly in a room full of sugar, and then he was gone--and it really wasn't a boring event. He was just too busy being him, I guess. Our paths have never crossed since, but I'm still friends with a woman that he totally pissed off, back then, because he never could stand still for very long.
shades of Psycho soundtrack
Banging tune!
When this kicks in at the end of the Bourne Ultimatum - oh man...…perfect.

Now I'm going to watch Bourne.
I made the intro of this my ringtone for years. The looks I would get when my phone went off in public, ha ha!

Musically, meh. Lyrically, ugh. This one could be retired, and the world would be a happier place.

I think I just figured out where the name Moby came from; noticing the wiki info on the right, his middle name is Melville.

Happy birthday, Moby

The first 20 seconds of this song is my ringtone
How could I forget this song? It's the only song I know!
Like many, my rating gets a two point bump because I am a Bourne fan...
Moby, like nearly all male artists, are singing to a woman. Interesting.

It is as you said - nickname because "Hall says he is the great-great-great nephew of Herman Melville, author of Moby-Dick.". Courtesy of Wiki etc.

I only listen to this because of the Bourne credits. One of the best bits of editing there is, and fits the music like a glove. Otherwise I think he is a dick and try to avoid him.

When I hear this these days in various forms (which isn't very often), all I know is that the latest Bourne movie is over.
Did not particular care for the remake of this song used in the last Bourne with Matt Damon. Should have stuck with the original.
Movie was also not up to speed compared to the first 3.

I don't care if Moby is classified as cheap / commercial music, this album "18" and the previous "play" never fail to catch my attention and put me in that comfortable, peaceful mood. I like what Moby does and it's a pleasure hearing it here once in a while :)
Can't get to the PSD button quickly enough. Terrible singing. Marginal songwriting. Repetitive. Sucko Barfo.
Just horrible. Pure crap, sorry. Milli Vanilli rhythm and some untasteful stuff over. (sorry for my bad English)

I'm pretty sure that much of the reason I like this song is its connection to the movie. Otherwise, it's a little drab.
Oh man, now I have the greatest urge to watch the Bourne films!
Outstanding! Got my attention while cooking!!!
This is a pretty good song besides the fact that none of the lines rhyme, and the words sound about as awkward as reading the phone book. I get the idea they banged it out the night before the release date or something.
Owie Vocals!
great morning song, as the sun rises

I'm going to say this without investigating specifics (i.e. your example): some of the dates are for various post-releases and re-mastered versions. Anything that is not an exact copy of the original (such as a master copy or maybe even a copy of the original vinyl) can be given dates that differ from what we know to be the original release date. Just a thought...

This is the signature theme for the superb Jason Bourne series. Over time, it has grown on me. OK, it may not be among the all-time great tunes, but does it deserve all this pile-on slashing by you fly-by snipers? Not even close!
Wikipedia says "Although not a hit when it was released, 'Extreme Ways' has gone on to become one of Moby's most downloaded songs." Apparently there is a fan base out there who are not commenting on RP...

Like some others here, I have liked some other moby work, but I am very un-impressed by this...sounds like mega-pop movie soundtrack stuff...maybe it even is that...but whatever, it gets my first-ever sucko-barfo rating
Is that a bollywood riff he's using?

Moby whines. So sad, little Moby.
Bonus points for not being Basement Jaxx.
Bourne. What can I say?
Lyrically shit
sounds like he's pilfering something from Achtung Baby
I usually really like Moby, so was disappointed to see his name on this track. Just doesn't do anything for me.
Just so darn tedious and flat..
...not quite as nice - too sketchy and demo-ish a production for public consumption...

Not a bad thing at all. It caught my attention when I saw the film and I had no idea it was Moby until the end of the credits. It's a great choice for the end credits, capturing the character's predicament.

That's sort of a low bar, isn't it? At least as far as I'm concerned that is.
Having said that, I will admit that I like the Bourne movies, and this song is good in that context.
