I dreamed you,
I saw your face.
Cut my lifeline when drifting through space.
I saw an angel,
I saw my fate.
I can only thank God it was not too late.
Over mountains,
I floated away.
Cross an ocean,
I dreamed her name.
I followed an angel down through the gates.
I can only thank God it was not too late.
Sing a little song of loneliness,
Sing one to make me smile.
Another round for everyone,
I'm here for a little while.
Now I'm walkin'
This street on my own.
But she's with me
Everywhere I go.
Yeah, I found an angel,
I found my place.
I can only thank God it was not too late.
I can only thank God it was not too late.
I saw your face.
Cut my lifeline when drifting through space.
I saw an angel,
I saw my fate.

He's up there as one of my favorite artists. This is nice.
The Gibson Brothers do a lovely bluegrass version of this tune on their 2009 Album Ring the Bell.
If Tom Petty ever recorded a bad song I have yet to hear it.
"Changed the Locks" is great, written by Lucinda Williams, Tom gives it his sound, it rocks!
yuck!
Damn fentanyl.
I saw the movie back in the day but barely remember it.
This soundtrack is quite the hidden gem though, with this song and WALLS being particular standouts.

Right; But don't forget his fellow , the under rated Jeff lynne (from ELO) who helped him on a couple of albums. Together, they did a wonderfull job, touching the very spirit of what must be pop-rocks tunes !
please listen to "full moon fever" or "into the great wide open", all is said.
Tom Petty is one of the best for straight up rock and roll, but he wouldn't be were his
is today without Mike Campbell.
He is a guitar genius, with solo's as good as you will hear anywhere.

Damn, this one's REALLY annoying when listening with headphones on. The "clicky-sounds" drive me crazy.... Don't get me wrong, it's a nice song, just not so much through headphones...

Love that man and his band. Hope to see them this summer.

Great song from a great album. I even liked the movied though I know most people don't.
Question: I heard that Petty sued someone regarding this soundtrack - what was that about? Anyone?

Yes he did. If I remember correctly the movie was released before he was finished with the soundtrack. In the movie someone else's songs were in the places where his songs were suppose to be. Something like that.

Petty's the man.
His consistency is downright amazing. Decades of quality.
I like this side of Petty... Dylan feel.
Bill and Rebecca are really on their game with this set. Thanks
This really was a great album.

I absolutely have no recollection of the movie
Trust me, you're not missing much.
It's a shame the movie was forgettable ... Brothers McMullen was great the first time around, but didn't need to be remade here. Must be why I forgot about Petty's great soundtrack. A beautiful tune.
I absolutely have no recollection of the movie, but the song certainly stands the test of time.
love it, only on RP! Always thought this album was understated, a little deviant from classic Petty, but Tom all the same.
NIce to hear this here... if you're a TP fan and overlooked this disk (its a movie soundtrack), pick it up. You won't be disapointed.
sweet.
Tom.Petty = boring stuff.
