Could you see the aisles of women?
Could you see them screaming and weeping?
Could you see the storm rising?
Could you see the guy who was driving?
Could you climb higher and higher?
Could you climb right over the top?
Why does a multi-millionaire
Fill up his home with priceless junk?
The wind is whistling
The wind is whistling
Through the house
Elvis are you out there somewhere
Looking like a happy man?
In the snow with Rosebud
And king of the mountain
Another Hollywood waitress
Is telling us she's having your baby
And there's a rumour that you're on ice
And you will rise again someday
And that there's a photograph
Where you're dancing on your grave
The wind is whistling
The wind is whistling
Through the house
Elvis are you out there somewhere
Looking like a happy man?
In the snow with Rosebud
And king of the mountain
The wind it blows
The wind it blows the door closed
Could you see them screaming and weeping?
Could you see the storm rising?
Could you see the guy who was driving?
Could you climb higher and higher?
Could you climb right over the top?

WHERE IS SHE?
Long live RP, William and all of the fantastic music we are blessed to hear!!!
I will cry like a baby when Kate Bush departs this earth. She has been part of my life since 11 (40 yrs!) and she has enriched it immeasurably. Long live KB... and RP!
Though I love this, I find the live version far superior. It just seems to have much more grit and urgency.

I would start with Butthole Surfers Comin Down and then Kate declaring herself KING of THE MOUNTAIN

I'm a massive Kate fan - at times. This song is from one disc of a two disc release. This disc has a lot of really meh songs on it, like this one. It's hardly the comeback disc that folks like me hoped for. There's a song about Pi, a song about the washing. Really hard to talk about how wonderful it is, because it's not.
But the other disc... I'm hoping it's the one she really wanted to do, a song cycle about the day culminating with her up on the roof (the Aerial) enjoying the gentle beauty of the world. It's not a record to put on while you're partying - but it belongs to a time when you can sit quietly and pay attention. It'll be rewarded. It's subtle, emotional, poetic, and inspiring.
I liked this song at first but it hasn't held up for me as much as other songs from Aerial. On my first listen to disc 1, I thought she'd lost her mind - really couldn't warm up to much of it. But Pi has grown on me and I now love it. Kate:
"I really like the challenge of singing numbers, as opposed to words because numbers are so unemotional as a lyric to sing and it was really fascinating singing that. Trying to sort of, put an emotional element into singing about...a seven...you know and you really care about that nine. I find numbers fascinating, the idea that nearly everything can be broken down into numbers..."
I still can't listen to Bertie or Mrs Bartolozzi, but Joanni, Pi and Coral Room I love very dearly now. Disc 2 is Kate at her best - just amazing and timeless. It's 11 years now, and still in active rotation.

I think that this echoes her earlier landmark work, and I LOVE the line, "...In the snow/ with Rosebud/ and King of the Mountain." Yeah!

Normally, when I hear a Kate Bush song, I'm left scratching my head as everyone fawns over it. Everyone else seems to think it's great, and I usually think it's very "meh". I feel like I missed something.
This is different. I really, really actively dislike this song, and am even more befuddled as to what on earth everyone else sees in it.

I'm just advocating that we discuss, compliment, and insult, the music and not each other. Why wouldn't that be a good approach?
I didn't realize that the RP forum had appointed a moral arbiter of content. Come to think of it, I'm certain they haven't.
In case there is any doubt, you should not feel it was a compliment. I read your posts to confirm what I already suspected. By your post today, you've only reaffirmed that suspicion.
Be as insistent as you like, and I will continue to offer my opinion as I see fit.

she sounds like Sister Fetus in the movie "Bringing Out the Dead"
Pretty predictable segue....one squeeky voice to another!!!
Is this the new album? I would like to have this I do believe.
Her screams are more a function of willfulness than lack of control, so listen again and enjoy someone diverting themselves with their own practiced gift.
If this is an aural hallucination, I want more of them!
Seriously, this is they way it sounds on the CD. It's a wonderful track, and completely unlike any other track on the album. It was actually recorded about 9 years ago, according to Kate.
Is there some sort of weird echo effect on this playback, or am I having aural hallucinations?
This is such a great album. I wasn't a huge Kate fan in the 70's and 80's, but this one really surprised me. It's balanced, beautiful and surprising. And mercifully free of high pitched squeals :)
I count myself as a fairly serious fan & I have most of Kate's albums. However this track continues to really under-whelm me.

One of the things I hate most about US FM radio turning into a monopoly is the demise of album-oriented rock, especially with ANY current rock being made.
